How to polish?

Planning on applying polish to my OOB Anger. I have a few questions and also looking for some pointers/tips.

Do I need to clean my ball thoroughly before I apply the polish? How much polish to should I use?

First timer and I want to try DIY. Please let me know if there's anything I should avoid or be aware of.

before i have my equipment polished i always do a good cleaning. i also use and highly recommend "Beans Secret Sauce Ball Polish" as i have used it with very good results

Would a hot bath suffice before applying polish? I was planning on a hot bath anyways, thought I'd try to get a bit more length on my Anger with polish.

you can try the hot bath, but i have never used this method on my equipment as i dont want to chance killing it.

if you bowl on alot of oil or have more then 40 games on it i would have it resurfaced first then apply the polish

1. Clean ball thoroughly. Bath is not necessary.

2. Buy Spinner.

3. Test on older balls before doing your PRIME ball.

4. Do Prime ball.

Then you'll know how much to use. No one can tell how much of which polish (abrasive or non-abrasive) to use over which base grit level of sanding on which ball to use on which oil pattern and lane surface. You must learn that yourself.

Hot Water Baths don't kill bowling balls, lack of maintenance does that.

The bath would be good if you have several games on the ball.
Honestly applying polish bay hand sucks, get a spinner or take it to the proshop. Either way it might be worth getting the surface touched back up while your at it. Could be a resurface or just a quick touch up. Depending on the condition of the surface.

I clean my bowling balls with cleaner after ech training and give them all now and them give them a bath.

Polishing I have to do by hand using bean's stuff nad it works out wuite well.

I also have used
- car polishes (total loss of reaction as the Teflon in the polish clogged up the ball completely :] )
- Plastic polish meant for all kind of plastics with good result but again loss of reaction

so far I have only talked about Black Magic with my Proshop guy and he says the stuff needs to be done on a spinner or otherwise it is just a more expensive cleaner.

The only advantage with polishing by hand is you gain strenght
