BWP drilling not to my liking?
« on: November 06, 2007, 03:48:43 AM »
Hi Everybody,

New to the forum and this is my first post.

I recently picked up a BWP and brought it to the pro shop to get drilled. I didn't specifically ask for a certain type of drill layout. Was I supposed to?

When I got my ball back, I matched the drill layout with the Hammer drilling instruction pamphlet. My BWP was drilled for a 'smooth arc' layout. The ball isn't hooking like crazy like I've seen on youtube.

Should I be upset? Is there anything I can have done to alter my ball to snap hook? Or did the pro shop drill for a smooth arc, due to the lane conditions at my local ally?

Confused.

I really hated my BWP at first. It out hooked my BW by alot! Tried to polish and change the surface but it didn't work. It would either just go straight or hook even more. Finally went to my driller and told him I needed it redrilled, he asked what is wrong and I told him it hooked too much! He said I can put a flair reducing weight hole in it! He did and the ball is money now!

so if your BWP doesn't have a weight hole, you can get the driller to add a flare increasing weight hole. Or reducing if that is what you need. But try the surface adjustments FIRST!!!

You really don't want to go there.......

My problem is opposite to yours and I do have a balance hole. My ball just slides down most of the lane and barely turns at the end. Mind you my ball is drilled for a smooth arc instead of a sharp turn.

I'm heading to the bowling center shortly and will ask the pro shop what I should do.

I know I can re-drill my BWP, but that will be my last resort. Never knew this game could get this complicated.

I've been working on my release and trying to get effortless spin. So far so good.

I guess I'll stick with the stock cover finish for now.

Thank you everybody for the suggestions!
