Title: BWP Surface Adjustment for Oil?
Post by: its a condition on October 08, 2007, 03:21:40 AM
Hi all - I normally wouldn't want to alter the surface on a ball like this, but the BWP just has the best roll and carry for me.  I'm wondering what you'd suggest as a surface adjustment to use it on longer, flatter or more oil patterns - I know, I should get a ball for that, but my BW (even with different surfaces) doesn't handle that well and nothing else rolls as well for me as the BWP.

Thoughts/ideas?

Thanks!

I would agree with Jeremy. I took mine down to 1000 but then brought it back up to 2000. Either way, I thought it was a better ball without the polish

bruerpilot, just a question for clarification: are you saying that you found the BWP to be a better ball at 1000g or 2000g Abralon than as a stock pearl?

Definitely knock the shine off it with an Abralon pad...  Ebonite has shown that pearl balls with the same surface prep are actually stronger (cover more total boards) than the corresponding solid balls.. so the BWP should be able to handle more oil than the BW with the same surface prep.  I think that 1000 grit surface should cover quite a bit of oil...

Without a doubt. my sweetspot has been 2000 Abralon. But I would NOT say that its stronger than the solid at the same grit.

I'm going to pull the string on this one.... going to buy a BWP at 2000g Abralon and compare it to my BW solid. Should be fun!
