Chalk
« on: October 23, 2009, 07:37:22 PM »
Any one want to gander an answer to what kind of cover the Chalk has.  I have been told its a Particle cover and also that its solid.

I just traded for a barely used one and the layout on it granted wasnt drilled for me obviously but it went so long and barely even tickled on the back end.

Was told by a Hammer staffer i bowl with on fridays that the layout currently on the ball will give me very long length.

He told me if i decide to redrill it to put a 4 x 4 1/2 drill on it pin up which should still give me some length and have more backend.

Any one who wants to venture some advice my way would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks

Here's the Japanese Bowling Ball Hammer section that shows the Chalk. The first link under the picture of the Chalk brings up the flyer (mostly in English): http://www.bowlingball.jp/archives/cat_50023285.html

The Chalk's coverstock is a solid reactive cover with a little bit of particle mica in it. I feel that this was the 1st attempt on the new coverstock for what the Jigsaw's current coverstock has on it. The weight block in the Chalk is a BW core with a higher mass bias which will give the ball a bigger backend movement.

I really enjoyed the Chalk as it was different movement (more) from the Widow line. This ball will be a great addition to any arsenal which the player is looking for a big backend movement. The cover tunes very well for most surfaces & for most styles of bowlers. I hope this helps out the questions that you may have. Have fun with this great ball.

Well thanks for the help so far.  Does any one think that a 4 x 4.5 layout pin up work for me.

My stats are as follows

Speed 17-18mph
Revs - never calculated but I am a Cranker so I would say some where around 450+ give or take
PAP  5 over and 1/2 up

Please let me know.  I will try and get a pic up tonight of the current layout. If not it will be up tomorrow.

I thought that was a Jigsaw.

It was a Jigsaw she was using, appearance is misleading and carry is all relative, sure it didn't do fantastic but she was managing the lane and utilizing a consistent reaction until she broke her shot in. I wouldn't jump the Jigsaw after that, just wait until you see bowlers using it on a condition intended.

That ball looks bad-arse...does look like the Jigsaw.

On that Japanese page that Poison looks equally as cool.

Out of the box my Jigsaw was ok, after a little polish it was a beast. It hits extremely hard and carries well. My problem has been that shinned up it still hooks a ton and I only get one game to two tops with it. Would love to get a full set in with it.

Watching the Jigsaw on TV it appeared to have a similar reaction to mine until I put some polish on it.

This is my first Hammer ball and it is worth the money. My brother drilled a Burn and loved it. Then after seeing me use the Jigsaw was impressed and ordered one as well. Shot 789 the second week with it. I have had 500+ after two games a few times but have had to switch because it was hooking too much for me.

I have a Chalk on the way. I asked Jeff what the cover was, pearl or solid and he said it was pearl. I asked what it would compare to, and he said a stronger looking Black Widow Pearl.

…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

I was also told it was a pearl by Jeff U and Ron Hickland Sr who did the layout for my Chalk.
