Mass Bias 7-1/2 from the PIN

Mass Bias marking of my Black Widow Pearl is located 7-1/2" from the PIN.
 
Is it a error ball

The "standard" distance is 6-3/4 so I wonder if it's a mis-marked MB.  If you have a shop in your erea with a determinator I would make sure to have the ball spun prior to drilling to make sure where the MB really is.

I'd have the ball checked at the pro shop, just to be sure.
Either, the locator pin for the MB was bended or moved during prodution (which would mean that the ball/core is still O.K.), or the core has been moved out of the central ball position so much that the standard 6.75" distance to the pin is not valid anymore. I guess that such a ball would have much weight concentrated in one area, probably on the opposite of the MB marker and towards the bottom. Not sure how it affects ball reaction, but drilling it will IMO be tricky...

Check the ball!

Youre right Dizzy. The core could be sitting down a bit in the ball. 6 3/4" is 1/4 circumferance of the ball and is the MB-Pin distance only if the axes meet at the exact center of the ball. If the core sits nearer the top it will be slightly shorter, if it sits nearer the bottom it'll be a little longer. This also affects top weight, but MB location should be correct if you can see the MB pin, i don't know if that come right to the surface on Hammer balls though.
