Black Widow
« on: September 19, 2006, 10:51:28 PM »
Got my Black Widow not too long ago. Today, I finally got a chance to bowl a few games with it. To say that this ball is good is an understatement..
It is drilled strong and the reaction of this ball is unbelievable, you can missed a few board but the ball still comes back strong...
I am definitely getting any one for later...

I agree 100 %.  I also think that if you were to take the cove down to say 400 and put a strong drill on it, it could be a pretty good heavy oil ball as well.  i have been giving serious thought to adding a second one for just that reason.  BW is the best ball I have owned in quite some time.

I don't think one would even have to take the cover that low to handle heavier oil.  People don't believe how strong the 4000 Abralon is until they see it for themselves.  Since the ball reads the mids so well OOB, I would think that 800-1000 wetsand would be sufficient for most on heavier/longer patterns.  It's a wonderful piece.

Your probably right.  I know the 4000 Abralon was way to much for where I needed it to be in my lineup.  But a nice coat of polish and this baby is right there.  Great length and a very strong backend.  This ball hits and carries better than anything I've ever owned.  I have to miss quite a bit to leave any corners standing.  I'm very impressed with the newer Hammer's.  I'm thinking about adding either another BW or a HawgZilla for the heavy and a Purple Vibe for the lighter stuff.  I think I may be turning into a Hammerhead!

I had to have mine sanded to get it to move and that did the trick. I don't think its as good as the One but time will tell.

I loved The One, but the BW is better in every aspect. The best ball out!

I picked up a BW to handle a med-hvy fresh house shot and carry down.  This ball did the trick for me nicely.  It fits great along with my Smokin Inferno as a one two punch for any med condition.  I keep abralon pads in my bag, so if I run into heavier oil I can take it down to 1000 or 2000, and im sure it would handle it nicely.  I kept it at 4000, and I love the easy length it gets and still bites on the back end even in some oil and carry down.  When it starts to check up to early I can move in deep and it still turns the corner, or I can move to the Smokin and keep the same line.

We drilled it pin under the bridge with the mb near the thumb to help me get the ball to turn over playing across the middle, and so I was worried it wouldnt go long enough to play outside on a fresh shot where my comfort zone is.  I am happy to say it does both very well.  Looking for my first 700 this year and Im confident this will be the ball I do it with.

Ritchie Allen has drilled up 4 or 5 in the past 3 months.  Gave me a chance to throw one with him.  I'm a brunswick man myself but this ball is amazing.  I'm gonna pick one up soon.  Haven't thrown a hammer ball since i was 13 with the pink hammer 3D.  Really looking foward to it...

definitely ball of teh year i say... its simply unmatched, its versatility and usefullness for all styles of bowling is great

surface prep and upkeep is key with this ball, make sure to clean weekly and i would say resurface to 4000 abralon every 50 games or so, get that fresh cover

all 3 of mine have been very successful 300's 800's tounrament wins, cuts, cashes... its a great ball... i even picked up the 8-10 with it :-D

No worry, I always clean my balls after every bowling session but not re-surfacing... hope by just cleaning, she can last me a league season if not more...

definitely will be good for ur league season for sure... if u see hooking power dwindling at all... a resuface will bring the widow back to full bite ... but very good that u clean after every bowling session, well taken care of
