Ball suggestions
« on: October 16, 2006, 01:56:39 AM »
I throw on a second shift league. It follows a league where mainly they throw straight and plastic. The shot I guess you would call a normal league shot before all the plastic is thrown. Still a fair amount of oil but obviously it has carried down some. I am a medium speed medium rev type of player. I don't know my pap. Would a Black Widow work on something like this?  I have really wanted an excuse to try this ball. Or any other Hammer suggestions work also!!!Thanks

Can work, but is IMHO not the best choice for carrydown. If you want to use it, I'd rather use an early rolling layout and/or snad the surface, because the carrydown will make a back end pop... difficult.

Personally, I'd rather go with a light load particle pearl, polished, like the Power Drive or a Pyro. Good length, and once the ball reaches the oil spots, the particles will smooth out reaction and increase control.

The Raw Hammer Pain would fit the bill.   Just give it a semi strong layout and you should be good to go.  If the OOB cover doesn't cut thru the carry down then adjust the cover to a duller surface.  The Pain is a very strong ball and i'm confident it's the best ball for the job.

Just be careful to not drill it too strong.  I have 2 Pains one drilled for length and backend and the other drilled really strong(stacked leverage).  My stacked leverage one is almost not usable for me because it so dam strong.

My BW at 2000 grit works well on carry down, however I think the pain is also a good ball.  I dont think you could go wrong with either of them as long as you have the proper layout.
