how does the Toxic compare to the BW Solid? Oil conditions, reaction, durability? Looking for a heavy medium ball to fit between Anger and Doom. Considering Toxic/Solid/Bite. Want long with snap, plan to place pin above ring.

The Toxic is the one you want!It will handle almost as much oil as the solid,but is much more angular.One of the best skid/flip balls on the market.

From my experience these two balls are completely different from each other except the large backend movement.

The TOXIC is a reactive pearl that glides thru the heads and mid-lane but has a very quick response to friction. In my opinion this ball is the true definition of skid/flip! The TOXIC is very strong at the break point!

The BWS is a solid reactive with a good mid-lane read and very strong backend. The BWS has a very unique backend reaction shape. The backend is not flippy like the TOXIC but more of a cross between flip and arc. I describe it as a banana arc! I don't know of any bowling balls on the market that have that same type of backend ball motion except the BITE and NO MERCY'S. I think that's exactly what made these balls popular.

A solid reactive cover will handle higher amounts of oil than a pearlized reactive cover.

Now you can take the TOXIC's cover down for it to handle more oil but in it's pearlized box finish it's not going to handle the same amounts of oil the BWS can.

I just got the Toxic a few weeks back. It was a little unpredictable, for me, on the obb condition. I took the surface down to 4000 and now I love it. It is a great Med ball. Actually it can handle most conditions that you throw at it. My .02

for me my doom does well on lighter patterns and no more than medium. i need something for medium to heavier as i use my Anger for the heaviest. i am hesitant about the toxic but am leaning towards the solid or the bite. what do you think?

I really like the Toxic. I think if you had it taken to 2000 it would fit perfectly in your arsenal, or drill it accordingly. Mine is drilled with pin 1" right of ring finger. I don't know anything about the BW series balls. I would imagine if you already have the doom and anger. It would fit better than the others, but that is guessing. I really only need the Toxic so far. I might get an Anger for those real heavy situations. Other than that, I really only need 1 ball, so far....My Toxic... And that is only brought down to 4000. My .02

I don't have the Toxic, but I do have both the Solid and the Bite. I have seen the Toxic being thrown, and it is what it is. A ball that gets down lane, and reacts hard to friction. That being said, because of the cover finish it can sometimes get very over/under on the person throwing it.

The Solid for me gets more than enough length and has a very strong turn.

The Bite gets more length than the Solid, but turns like someone kicked it.

I loved the Solid, but I am loving the Bite even more. Take it for what it's worth.

I have had the Toxic ( sold it when I should have kept it ) and have the Bite. I had the pin above on the Toxic and if or when, I get another, I'll put the pin between above and right of finger, IMO, that's where it's shine. Length, and as said above, someone kicks it left ! Hard turn, great ball. Heavy oil ? nope, unless you really adjust the cover. Still a super ball.

Bite, took mine to 2000, good length, hard turn ( but not as hard as the Toxic ) and is a good heavy side oil ball. It's replaced my Pain which I thought was the best of the three balls, until I changed the Bite's cover and the Pain stays home now.

Solid, threw one, was not impressed but it was pin under ring and I don't do well with that layout, so not much I can say except in other's hands it's a good ball.

Depending on your oil, length and what you really want it to do, I'd rate Bite up one on the Toxic for med/heavy, but Toxic ahead on med oil.

Everyone has their own approach to building a bowling ball arsenal. Many on this site set up their arsenals based on heavy, med/heavy, med, med/light ect... . I don't use that approach to building an arsenal.

I take the "what ever works" view! There's times i've used a polished reactive pearl on heavy/long patterns with great success. I've used particle on short/light oil patterns with great success. I use which ever ball seems to give me the best, most controllable reaction that get's me in the pocket.

My suggestion is to build an arsenal of several different bowling balls and don't worry too much about putting them into specific catergory's. Many of the bowling balls made today can be used on a lot of different patterns if at the correct surface grit.

I have two Blue Vibes and it's considered a light/medium ball. I consider it a bowling ball that can be used on almost any pattern if at the correct surface grit. My dull Blue Vibe is 1000 grit abralon and it has worked well on all the heavier/long patterns i've used it on.

So in my mind you have a ton of options for adding another ball to your arsenal. You could buy another DOOM give it a different layout and change the cover. Just by doing that, you have a different ball that can be used on different patterns.

Just find a ball that you think you will like and buy a couple sets of abralon pads. Adjust the covers to fit your needs!

If I was on a strict budget with my bowling I would just use 2 Blue Vibes and a set of abralon pads. I could do pretty well with just those two balls and abralon. I could do the same thing with the DOOM or many other bowling balls. Coverstock is king!

I agree...thats why I had it resurfaced to 4000. Now it is very predictable and controlable. At first I couldn't figure out the ball....now its awesome

i think im going to go with the Bite. It sounds to me like you can't go wrong with this ball. If it is too much and i cant control it off the dry I'll switch to the doom, if their is too much oil and it's going to long I'll go to my sanded anger.
