Title: Considering a black widow purchase
Post by: bowler007 on May 31, 2007, 07:47:01 AM
Now that I'm getting back into bowling (leagues and such) I thought I'd treat myself to a new ball.  I tend to bowl down the right hand side and let the ball hook into the pocket.  I don't know any measurements (ball speed or revs), but I'd say I'm middle of the road in speed and revs.  I've seen people who put a ton more spin on it than me, and people who have no spin.  On speed I might be a little higher than average.

I usually aim for the arrow second to the right or in between 1st and 2nd on the right.

Right now I bowl an Ebonite Matrix TPS III and a Rhino ProT2 for a spare ball.  I'd like something that hits the pocket harder than the Ebonite.  I would probably switch the Ebonite to my spare ball.

Tell me what you guys think.

I didn't have a lot of success with the Black Widow with my down and in game.  I think if I were a higher rev player throwing it on deeper angles I would have loved it.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

I invented America.

Proud member of the Track Legion, though I'm seeing other companies on the side.

I had better success with me BW playing deep inside lines.  For me this ball worked well once a hook spot developed.

I only play the Ebonite down and in (I'm assuming that means down the lane into the pocket) because that's how I get it to strike, but preferably I like a little more inside-outside-inside angle.

The black widow for me makes me migrate in and it needs to have some dry down lane. I personally haven't found anything that I could play outside with it besides a pretty heavy 43 ft sport pattern. IMO a ball like the Pain if you can find one may be the better option.

Just another aspiring junior bowler who is just starting to get there.

Wait for a few reviews to come in on the Black Widow Pearl.

I'd wait for the Black Widow Pearl to come out, or you could go with a Doom.
