BWP's MB strength
« on: August 16, 2007, 04:34:41 PM »
Out of curiosity, what is the MB strength on the Black Widow Pearl? It just says 'MB rating high", sort of vague.

I just punched one up, threw it a few games (so far impressed), I'll post a review after I throw it some more.

isnt .014 sorta medium strength?

i mean you got the Morich LevRG with .033 and the Track Rising with .031, not those are high MB ratings, but .014 seems pretty small, maybe its just high in the Hammer line though

Mild to middlin' nowadays.  Strong would be anything over about 0.020, and once you hit 0.025 you're into some of the strongest asyms you can buy.

Until the recent round of strong asyms that started with the Xception 5.0 and the Vanguard core from Mo, 0.014 was quite respectable.

I have seen some 'lower' rated mass bias balls easily out hook some pretty strong mass bias balls, even with similar drilling's.

Just to name one; I watched a polished Black Widow out hook a Total NV and a Awesome Finish, by several boards on the backend.

I think, just because the mass bias numbers are low, there are other factors to consider (coverstock, surface prep, rev rate, lane surface and oil pattern).

For me, I have never had a ball snap like the BWP on the backend. It just turns sideways for me, and I don't have a lot of hand.

The true test will be in league, our house has one of the most inconsistent patterns. Lately the backends have been strong, so pearl's have been the way to go.

A higher MB number really to most people means how fast the ball will set up. the higher the number the faster the spin time and the faster it will roll out.

often it's still common to see HIGH MB balls get out hooked by a Strong High flaring Symeterical.
