Diesel Particle
« on: October 22, 2006, 12:15:04 AM »
Anyone still use their Diesel Particle on a regular basis? This one got me out of an early season funk and has been simply awesome lately! Still one of the largest flaring balls in my arsenal and it tackles our heavy house shot with ease. Forgot how much backend this light load particle has on the right condition! Just a perfect coverstock/core combination in my opinion. Hopefully it can stay hot, at least until I pass up G in our head-to-head! Too bad you got rid of yours G!!!

A guy here uses one in league just about every week.  Does pretty well with it and it seems like he's had it forever.

You are so right on about the Diesel Particle.  I just found an old discarded one on the racks (with a badly cracked bridge) and the span was pretty close to mine.  I thought what the heck, and took it home and gave it a hot water soak, then took the shine off with a used green scotchbrite with Clean n Dull.  Tried it our yesterday along with my new Mean Machine, and man, does this thing flare or what.  Flares more than anything I've ever had.  Starts revving hard in the mid-lane and then just comes flying back to pound the pocket.  Shot 215 with a greek church to open in the 10th.  Had the guys in the lanes near us looking over to watch this ball work.  The pin is under and touching the ring finger hole, CG is kicked out about 2 7/8" on the mid-line, and there is a small weight hole 1 3/4" past the VAL and about 1/2" below the mid-line.  I liked this one sooo much, that I'm seriously thinking of picking up another one and putting the same drill on it.  First Hammer I've ever thrown, but after this, probably not my last.

Yeaaaaaa!!!  I got lucky and won an auction yesterday for an undrilled 15# Diesel Particle, so I am a very happy camper, and a soon to be Hammer roller.  That old, cracked one that I'd found on the racks absolutely convinced me that I had to try and find a new one if possible.  Guess the Hammer gods must have been smiling down on me looking for another convert.

Probably the one I was watching on E-Bay! Think it went for $88 shipped which is an good deal for a great ball. Then again, not as good as the closeout price of $59 SHIPPED that Bowlingball.com was selling them for a couple years back. I picked up 2 extra at that price, but my original DP has been so durable, I never even punched up the other 2. Sold one to a good friend (for the $59) who uses it exclusively in 4 leagues a week. Since then he's shot a 299, several high 700 series, and his avg. has been up +10 pins. Can't even guess how many games he has on his and it still rolls and hits like it did on day one! Just a great piece.
Duvalite, don't hesitate to punch the new one up strong. You will get a flare monster that doesn't burn up early and makes a strong midlane read if you got a decent amount of oil and any hand. Keep us posted!

HammerHombre and others,

this was the one that was on eBay.  Got it for a cheap $63 plus the very high $24.95 shipping and handling.  For the $88 total, I didn't mind the high shipping price one bit, as I was just happy to even find a new one, and especially a 15# one at that.

I looked on the Hammer website, but they don't have this ball listed in their archives anymore.  I was hoping to find their recommended drill patterns for the DP.  Anyone have any recommendation thoughts on a strong drill for me, based on my specs in my profile, and considering I am slightly speed dominate?  I definitely want to be able to swing the ball out like I can with that old one I found.  Go Hammer!
