How do these two balls differ?

The razor blade will handle more oil than the saw blade. The saw blade is more for medium oil.. Its polished where the razor blade is pretty dull..

They both have the same coverstock except the Saw's OOB finish is polished and the Razor's is dull, correct?  Are the cores the same because the Saw has a higher differential?

The Saw Blade has a higher diff version of the core, where as the Razor is classic core, covers same, finish different, that's about it.

No the cores are very different, .062 differential for the saw, .04 differential for the razor @16lb.  The saw has a pearl cover at high gloss the razor, a solid version at a much lower grit.

See Hammer own technical info:

http://www.hammerbowling.com/tech_info/info.php

Saw Blade is 1000 grit POLISHED plus large differential (.065) for more length and more backend hook. Seems to be intended for when the lanes open up.

Razor Blade is 1000 grit DULL plues less differential (.040): earlier and less flare for more control.

Now my only choice is whether to try the Saw Blade or the DOOM Raw Hammer.  I like the fact that the Saw Blade can handle a bit more oil than the DOOM (via the particle additive).  May make for a more versatile ball.  What do you think?

the saw blade is a POS.. I had one when it first came out and was very unhappy with this ball all the way around. The DOOM is an awesome ball that alot of people on here just love.. Get the DOOM..

Depends on what you want.....

Saw blade is more controllable.   Doom flips harder.   Saw reads the mids better.

Just all in personal preference.

And for the SAW hater........Hmmm I had 2 8's, and 3 3's with that nug last year.   It's not so bad.

The Saw B is a polished particle (possibly polished particle pearl), while the Doom is a resin pearl. 2 different balls for different purposes and releases. As a speed dominant player, I'd guess the SB would be more versatile for you, BECAUSE IT HANDLES MORE OIL, while the Doom would take considerable dry for your personal release. Just a guess. Depends on how much oil/dry you see.
