Black Widow Venom: Impressions
« on: September 19, 2008, 03:58:57 PM »
Got my Venom Friday night. Pin over ring finger, CG kicked about 1 1/2" right of thumb, left in OOB surface.

Game #1~ I was all over with this ball the first game. Light, heavy, over reaction, under reaction, you name it. At this point, I was thinking my Rayzr hooked more out of the gate. Maybe the surface needed some "break in time" ?...... Shot 155...............

Game #2~ Locked in. The last few balls of the 1st game I was getting a feeling of this ball. I moved about 5 boards left of normal, and picked the speed up some. I didn't miss the pocket all game, and ended with 238. Carry and reaction were great all game.

Game #3~ Kept the same line, and kept the ball speed up too. Again, never missed the pocket all game, and the recovery and carry were unmatched here. I had confidence in every shot that it would be perfect. Ended with 256, again in the pocket every time.

I think this is one of those balls that need a little break in time, to get to where the ball needs to be. We started on a fresh THS, and it just got better every frame. It was night and day difference from the first game, to the 2nd and 3rd.

I was thinking about surface adjustments, then the ball totally came around just how I hoped it would. Excellent ball so far, and will update after a few more nights with it.

That's another ball I'd love to try out too. The colors alone have my interest because it's different.

Who knows, maybe I'll snag one of those too...............

Fatboy8, leave the surface alone. The ball will wake up for you after 10 or so games, mine did.. I would just leave the surface as is for now.

I love my Venom. Its drilled pin between the fingers with the cg out some with a small weight hole and its one of the best rolling balls I have ever had.

The last 2 Thursdays I have shot 780 and 724 with it.. For me, its very versatile.

On a side note, if you want to try a Psycho, LMK. I have a single MINT RH drill for sale.

Yeah, the surface will stay right where it is. After the first game it really started turning in to a different ball. I can't wait until Monday night to see how it does again.

I scraped out a 649 with having a 155 in the first game/break in time. Could have been a really great night though.

Any chance you start to get a track on it and the rougher surface causes it to come alive?

My guess is, a couple of games starts to get a track in the ball, and the factory shine worn down a bit.

I've heard alot of balls need "break in" time, so guess this is one of them. It's night and day.

The ball continues to impress me. Had 245 first game Monday night, 200+ second game. I chased the line the whole 3rd game, and just never got lined up. Should have made a ball change there though.

This ball is a carry machine. It gets the pins mixing, and trips everything. So far so good, knock on wood.
