I am doing a refit of some equipment and don't really wanna do all of my stuff so I am going to thin the herd so to speak. If I do up the following 6, do you all think I have it covered?
Swagga, Sting, Infection, Venom, Blue/Silver Backlash, Black Hammer
I have a Jigsaw Corner, Trap, Grind, Plague, Nasty, Jacked, Midnite Vibe, Red/Purple Backlash, Blue Hammer (orig) all used.
Also have the following new....Grape Vibe, High Rev, No Mercy, Pain, Grind, Nasty, red/Silver Jacked, Blue/Silver Backlash, Taboo X-out...
Do I have my bases covered????

I counted 24 bowling balls, used or unused, id say you have your bases covered.

I wasn't talking about all of them...I was talking about the 6 specific balls I have listed......
Swagga.....45x3-7/8x45......P1 hole.....500/1000
Sting..........40x4-1/4x45.....P2 hole......500/1000/3000
Infection....60x5-1/4x65.....P3 hole......800/2000 polish
Venom.......45x2-3/4x25.....P2 hole......800/3000 polish
Blue/Silver Backlash..60x4x60.....P4 hole....500/1000/2000 polish
Black Hammer...........PBA Plastic Layout
If I could add another ball it would be a Jigsaw Trap drilled 50x3-7/8x40.....P2 hole, box finish
I know I don't have anything with a quick rolling drilling angle but other than that I think I am set....Opinions?

I'd say you got all the bases covered . I know if you bowled up in my area you would probably never have to use the swagga and sting.

I would do the plague over the sting and work in the midnight vibe somewhere.
Very underated ball!!
-
I chose the Sting over the Plague due to the layout and the fact that it's a pure solid.
I agree about the Midnight Vibe...I laid mine out too strong. It's too strong off the oil for our lane conditions. I am going to take the polish off the ball and see if that helps control the breakpoint and backend. I am considering using one of the others I have here with a 45x5-1/2x55 like I had on my Trop Heat Hybrid.
I am also considering the Onyx Vibe drilled like my Tsunami.....55x2-3/4x25 and the Grind drilled identically to my Infection for some more control.

The Onyx Vibe is one of my favorite balls of all time. Drilled 4.5" pin to PAP, pin under the fingers. I like to keep it at 4000 abralon. Works great on anything besides dry.
-
Think you need something in our mid performance line. Maybe the Arson or could even drop down to an Onyx Vibe. You have pretty large gap between the Venom and the Backlash. If you want to go with something you have listed I would suggest the Pain and Grape Vibe to add in there.
-
HammerTech.....my Venom is pretty tame due to the 2-3/4" pin to PAP distance and the Backlash is drilled kinda strong at 4" pin to PAP so the gap isn't as big as you may think.
I was considering drilling up a Grind with the same layout as my Infection OR I could modify the Midnight Vibe I have to me more useful. The 60x4x60 layout just makes the ball VERY strong off the spot and that's normally death on my home lanes.

Yes I understand the layouts just going with core/cover combo as far as the gap goes. Grind could fit in there too.

I would add a Midnight Vibe as well as a Brawl to your arsenal as well. The Brawl will be able to replace the Sting down the road and as stated the Midnight is a sleeper. I would figure how to get the Grape in there down the road as well. The ball has a motion like the original Blue Vibe. Love mine so far.

radioman....I have 3 used Midnight Vibes sitting in the shop....any suggestions on a layout?
I also have a NIB Grape and Brawl sitting on the shelf...suggestions there as well?

I have 2 Midnight Vibes. One is pin down CG out with small hole. The other is pin up CG out a little no hole. Pin down has 3000 abralon. Pin up I just knocked the shine down a bit with a new 4000 pad. I use the Pin up ball more. Although the main house I bowl in has Pro Anvilane surface the majority of the surface here is AMF which tends to get the ball in motion easier so I use the Pin up more because of this. I generally do not keep the high gloss on a ball it makes it for me to snappy. I like to have a controllable reaction. The ball still gets through the heads and midlane real well with a continuous ball motion on the back.
