Does my Black Widow need an x-hole?
« on: February 02, 2007, 11:54:57 AM »
Yo,
My black widow sucks...to put it plan and simple, DON'T get me wrong its not ball I just DON'T like the way its drilled (pin under ring cg kicked right(3"pin)) on my house shot the dang thing just wont go and when it does not the way I want it to, seriously I can ALMOST out hook it with my vibe drilled very similarly. I know the easiest thing to do and ending with the best result would be to just a redrill but if I did, off the top of my head would end up with my old drill in my track (which is high) and was hoping to just tap another hole in it, and thats my question in a very round-a-bout way: what would happen and where should I put it? I would ask my proshop guy but he is and idiot

That could be part of your problem.

Wow you guys are quick on the draw!
any way to answer the above question my mb is not as close to my pap, its probably 4-4.5 inches from it, if you take my thumb as the center of a clock and my fingers as noon my mb is ~ 5:00 and a backend monster as you describe is exactly what I'm looking for and exactly what I don't have.

From the center of my thumb ~ 3in., 3.5 maybe, by the way would have given this info but had a little brain fart there...

That sounds like a fairly far MB placement there, but I don't know squat.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

if you want strong backend from the widow, the best way to go is to have the MB close to the thumb, not far away from it... putting the MB farther out from your center of grip and closer to your axis creates a smoother roll and controlled reaction thats really rolly. have the pin below combined with the mb being kicked out its no wonder u dont like this ball much, i would suggest an honest plug and redrill, i wouldnt normally suggest it but since ur so dissatisfied in the number one selling ball on the market that is plain amazing i think it need to be done.

i would suggest putting the pin above your fingers rather than below, my main reason for this is due to the fact that everyone of these that i have laid out for myself or my friends or even customers at my local pro shop, pin above the ring finger area is plain money on this ball, and then keep the mb closer to your thumb, i would kick it out no further than 2 inches personally. I have had 3 widows with the pin up and the MB in a snappier position and have accomplished great things for me.

my other widow is a pin down, and honestly is very condition specific especially since i also have the MB kicked in about the 5 o clock position on it. on the right condition it works great, but it seem like you are looking for an overall versatile use ball with a strong backend. i would suggest the pin above with the mb in that snappier position i described.

any other questions just ask or pm me

Sorry about the lack of complete details but to answer Inverted 1's question my MB is NOT next to the thumb but down, as near as I can remember (i'm not at my house right now) its ~ 40-45 deg. really cant remember precisely but I can tell its not at a 90 (or anywhere close) with my thumb.
