Doom Question

If I drill a Doom the same as my Sling Blade, how much more boards would the Doom cover? Thanks in advance for any advice.

IMO, the balls are completely different.  
I never got a SLING that I liked.  

Now, I did have 3 of them and they all seemed very cover strong and hooked in the midlane.   The Doom will not read the mids like the SLING. The Doom will go longer and be flippy off of the spot, not rolly.   Completely different look, IMO.

Very interesting. The Sling Blade is the most versatile ball I have owned since I got back into bowling 4 years ago (16 year lay off). If you don't mind let me ask you another question. What kind of reaction would I get if I lay the Doom out with the pin above bridge with the cg kicked out a little? Thanks.

I have my Doom drilled with the pin above  and in between the bridge with the cg kicked right to 1oz no balance hole.  I get good length and a very strong but controllable backend.  This ball flat out hits hard.  I carry light hits, high hits, it just carry's great.

That is almost exactly how my Sling Blade is drilled and I think I can put the same drilling on the Doom and just have a little more aggressive ball. This will be my second shot at a Doom. The first one I made the mistake of listening to someone else's advice on the lay out and I just couldn't control it. When I did get in a good shot, your right, it carried like crazy. I am gonna get me another one and drill it the way I am used to.

The layout I have on my Doom is the same exact layout I have on all of the balls in my arsenal.  I decided this a while ago.  I felt that I would just put my favorite layout on every ball in my arsenal and let the cover and cores seperate the reactions.  So far this is working great.

This is my favorite layout and the one I have on all of the balls in my arsenal:  Pin above and in between the bridge(pin 5.5" from pap)  with the cg kicked right to 1oz and NO balance hole.  I hate using balance holes.  So I don't use them anymore.  This layout matches up great with me.  It gives me a better backend reaction and carry.  

Some bowlers like to use different layouts for every ball in there arsenal.  I used to do that but found it was hard to get used to the reactions of the different balls.  Plus it caused over lap sometimes between a couple of balls.  Drilling everything the same makes it real easy to know which ball to switch to and which ball to use.

The only thing I disagree with is drilling EVERY ball in your arsenal with that drilling.   Sometimes you need a different "look" down the lane.  

It is funny that you like that layout, because with the last few balls I have punched I have layed out very similarly, and love the results.  

Mine is 5.5" pin to PAP, which falls right above the bridge.  
60* layout, which for me is about .5-.75" right of the center of grip.  
NO X-hole.
