I recently had my Hammer Doom cleaned and brought back to OOB, 4000 Abralon i believe. Has anyone changed to 2000 with the doom? Wanting more backened. Also, any recommendations for polish? I want to maintain the length i get out of it.

2000? I did! Less Backend by far, option would be 2000 with a TOUCH polish (don't kill the ball please).

don't go for a strike, go for a sure spare, we need 5 pins to win

so your saying if I go 2000 i will have less backend?

Depends on where you bowl and the pattern, for me with alot of ball speed and lower revs more surface is more overall backend and hook. Polish is my enemy on some balls and other balls like a 2nd dimension I am fine, usually the lower rg high diff balls i have success with polished.

Yes, i feel that, especially with balls like the Doom, a finer grid will take more revs to the breakpoint resulting in a harder turn.
Like mrbowlingnut said its a personal experience and opinion.

Changed the surface to 2000 abralon with ebonite polish. Wow, shot 266 my all time high right after doing it. I think this is the magic combo for the lanes I roll on.
