Doom vs Cherry Vibe
« on: September 11, 2007, 01:06:38 PM »
First off, I'm not sure about my exact stats but I am righty, higher rev, and higher speed.  Probably a little bit rev dominate.  I believe my PAP is approx 4 3/4 right 1/4 up.  I feel I am fairly versatile but prefer to play between 10-20 at the arrows.  I bowl primarily at a house with 30 year old wood lanes with guardian overlay.  The shot is 41 feet with moderate oil but they break down fast and hard.  I am currently averaging 220 with my Black Widow Pearl but I really have to take hand out of the ball and go to my "B" game half way through the 2nd game.  I feel I have to shoot 250+ the first game If I want a shot at a decent set.  I'm interested in another Hammer ball and think that the Doom or Cherry Vibe might fill the gap under the Widow Pearl.  My concern with the Cherry vibe is that I used to have a Blue Vibe, but it was not a good ball playing deep for me.  It was a great ball playing straighter but it did not have the back end recovery that I was expecting.  My concern with the Doom is that there might not be enough seperation between it and the Widow Pearl.  Which ball would be a better fit for me?

In my opinion, if you're only concern with the Cherry Vibe is that your Blue Vibe didn't have enough backend...problem solved with the Cherry. Stores energy very well and definitely has a great pop on the backend. Your separation worries about the Doom may be true. Surface adjustments would probably make it fit well, but in my opinion, the Cherry would probably be a better fit for you.

The Doom doesn't curve as much as my BWP, but there is only a couple board difference. As far as the Cherry Vibe goes, I haven't thrown it, but from what I've seen and heard it is very jumpy off the dry. Check around and see if you can find maybe something like a Pure Hammer, or maybe even a old Red Faball Urethane Hammer.

drilled the BWP and Cherry Vibe last night.

Cherry VIBE is your choice over a DOOM.

Cherry is longer and sharper off of the dry.
