Has anyone used the 90 deg MB layout on their widow?  I'm drilling one up this weekend for a customer.  He has great speed and revs (18mph and around 375-400), high track (will measure exact PAP this weekend) and overall a very good bowler.  He's used a blue urethane hammer for as long as I can remember, but wants to try out something new.  Looking for length and a smooth reaction on the backend, definitely nothing skid/flip.  From the layout sheet... something like the label smooth arc, but with possibly a little longer pin to pap distance.  Any experience with this layout?

Yes... 90 with ring right of ring. Got more length and plenty of hit! Not as good of a layout to swing, but great to go up the boards.

I did one at 5.5" and 90* and I absolutely hated it.   But, to each their own.  

The ball read the mids too much.  

I don't have but have seen a 105* in action...that looks like a better choice.

Thanks for the input...  interesting that there was too muhc mid-lane.  Did you see any sort of hook/set reaction when watching the 105* layout?  I remember reading a warining that anything with the MB beyond the thumb hole could result in hook/set.  What type of layout would you recommend for length and a smooth/controlled backend (not that the widow was made for this type of reaction...but all I have to work with)?

Your on the right track.  Have the bowler put the pin in his favorite location and place the MB about 6" from his pap.  This usually puts the MB under the thumb and will give a more controlled reaction.  I don't think you need to move the MB further than that to acheive the more controlled reaction.

At 90* I had a nice strong arc but nothing near hook-set with the Widow. More length compared to my 75* widow but not a tamer back end.
