Title: Dulling BWP?

I noticed in a review that someone dulled this ball a little, just wondering if anyone else has tried this? I love the ball but it does tend to snap quite a bit.

Doesn't that ruin the whole purpose of the ball tho? Hmm, i don't know.. That's just what i think.. Dulling it will smooth it out a bit im sure!

I dulled and repolished if you referring to me, not the same as just dulling the shell. Alot of shells become much better when dulled and brought back up, i used 1000 and brunswick high gloss this time.

I have alot of success with getting a very straight ball to hook alot more front and back by putting teeth under the polish. My local shop is letting customers there is a break in period on this ball, i just speed the process up by switching it myself.

Well just by dulling it and starting at a lower grit before polish will make a big difference with the BWP. It comes at 4000 grit plus polish.

if you just straight dull this ball a bit or resurface completely and leave the surface at a fresh 4000 grit cover like the black widow.. it is stronger than the original black widow...

leaving it at a lower grit and then polishing will also give a more aggressive reaction....

thanks for all the posts I'm just gonna take the shine off with some 4000 grit and see how it works, the problem I'm seeing now with more revs (around 390) once the ball hits the dry makes too hard of snap. thanks everyone! later eric

That's the nature of this ball (go long and snap).  Dulling the cover may help to smooth it out a bit.  I think this ball is much better as a 2nd shift ball when there's a hook spot(miss area) to bounce off of.  On the fresh conditions this ball is going to be hard to control because of it's back end strength.  Of course a lot of this also depends on the layout your using and the patterns your playing on.

Mason, thanks for this insight. A quick follow-up question please:

why is the BWP, when dulled, stronger than the original Black Widow at the same surface? Is it a different cover or are there changes to the weight block? thx!
