Emerald Vibe arrived! **Video added**
« on: June 02, 2008, 11:12:59 PM »
The UPS man delivered it yesterday. Thanks to Buddies for the quick shipping as always.

15 lb 4 oz
2-3" pin 2.5 top

I layed it out 70 X 5" X 45 with the pin in the middle finger. I have this same layout on my blue vibe. Stayed tuned for a mini review and video.

Here is a video of my practice session.  It's rough video, I just cut out the dead spaces between shots and added some fades. I tried to show three different lines, outside 5, down 10 and a  few shots playing a small swing across 15. On the outside shots I'm playing right on the friction.

Surfaces:
Emerald- box finish
Blue - 4000 plus trizact compound

You seem to hit the 2 pin first on alot of your shots.  If I where you, I would try to get a little more surface on the ball and less polish.  It would help you hit the 1-2 at the same time.

Your release is money.. You remind me of Billy Oatman with the feet shuffle and how you release. Only difference is your not as low to the ground as ol' Billy. But really, I think with the right equipment in your hand, you'd be amazing. Plus it was a fresh house shot, which really those balls aren't designed for..

Thanks everyone for the replies.

coachlefty/SVstar34- I plan to try a few different surfaces on the EV. From my experience with the bwp, bv and toxic Hammer's box finish as always been too slick for me.

302efi- The BV rolled great on that pattern. I guess that would be expected since the shot was fresh. It will be interesting to see the difference in reactions on a broken down condition.

Xfest- Thanks. Billy O was here last spring for a seminar, nice guy. His major recommendation for my game was more knee bend to get lower.

Deathblooms- I've owned a few of Hammers recent releases and IMO the BV is the best of them. Strong layout with surface it's great on heavy stuff, weaker layout with polish nice on lighter conditions. Hopefully Hammer has plans for a replacement!

Gunny- The camera is a Canon, one of the dc'd hv models. I use Sony Vegas software to edit and render. This is my second or third video so I'm still learning. I've actually never read the sticker, I'll make sure to next time I'm at the center.

Yeah the Blue Vibe looked pretty impressive in that video. I'm guessing the Emerald will shine once the lanes begin to break down which is probably what it's designed for with the extra length and backend.

Slap, great vid and the quality is unreal!  I also agree with you in that the BV is one of Hammers best releases!  Why did they discontinue that ball?
