Would putting a Pin in the track drill on an Emerald Vibe make is usable for drier lanes? I know the Razyr will probably work better, but I'm getting a really good deal on an Emerald Vibe, so I figured I'd go that way.
Specs in profile.

The Emerald is sneaky strong, so I"d say no. My daughter has a Cherry Vibe with the pin over and close to the track, and that ball is still not for "true dry" lanes.

You might want to try putting ther Pin on your PAP instead of your track. This will enable you to play straighter with a nice movement on the back with the EV with the Pin Axis drill. But remember you will be taking a good performance ball that handles oil well and taking the preformance out of it.
A suggestion here would be find and old Hammer Ball from the late 80's that is urethane and do a Axis Weight drill on it. Cheaper and you won't loose a performance ball.

It really depends on what you mean by dry lanes. On really dry lanes no reactive covered ball is a good choice. For really dry lanes urethane is the ball to use or even plastic.

I mean shorter patterns and/or low volume patterns. My main issue is that I'm bowling on relatively old wood lanes, and on some patterns I can't get deep enough without the ball checking up in the midlane and losing angle/carry. I figure the cover is strong enough on the EV (I used to have a Toxic) that as long as I could get it to push through the mids it'll still react good on the back.
I probably should have put this in the first post.

I would think a long pin to pap layout would give it the length thru the mids.
Another thing you could consider is getting some delayed reaction type of polish. Something with slip agents.
