Backlash Blue/Silver or Midnight Vibe?
« on: July 18, 2011, 07:47:34 AM »
Looking for a medium/dry ball with smooth backend to control under/over pattern. Was thinking Backlash with a pin down drill, but Im unsure where the Midnight Vibe fits in the Hammer lineup.

Depends on how much dry you're seeing and how fast your ball speed is.

If your ball speed is much higher than your rev rate, then the Midnight Vibe should work.

If your ball speed matches your rev rate or is lower, then the Backlash is the better choice.

You don't have to use a lower pin to get a smooth breakpoint. I recently drilled a Blue/Silver with a 5.5" - 6" pin to PAP (above the middle finger's hole) and the CG 1/2" on PAP side of the grip and it resulted in a very smooth breakpoint with less than 1" of flare.

prob the backlash would be the best choice of the 2, or even look into the cyclone, but the midnight vibe is underated its very strong and skid/flip not a dry lane ball but very versatile on many conditions

Thanks IBSS...how would the Recon compare to the Backlash in overall strength, and also backend? Iam looking for a ball to control dry backends.

out of the two in my opinion i like Recon the most the backlash can get a lil touchy on the backend ,my Recon silver is maxed out  3 3/8 stacked oob and it stills give me the most length and smooth on backend with no over and under and carries the corner better than some of my high end stuff lol, not knocking the backlash i just fel the backlah is a lil stronger to me the recon silver u will get more length and smoother backend with no over/under

The Blue/Silver Backlash is going to be stronger than the Silver Recon, BUT
if you want a ball to control the backends, you want the Brunswick SlingShot or the Avalanche Urethane. Both will do the job for serious dry and lots of backend.

Even with the seriously weak drilling I described in the previous reply above, the Backlash is stronger than my Slingshot and my AU.
