Title: For those that own the BITE
Post by: chitown on February 10, 2008, 11:36:55 PM
How do you guys like the BITE?  I know of 3 people who own the BITE and 1 really hated it, the other really liked it and the third guy just got his so doesn't know yet.

I drilled mine to be a more condition specific ball, and when i have a hair bit of carrydown, i LOVE it.  On fresh backends it tends to fly a little too much for me, but thats not what i got it for.

chitown and Will07, why do you hate it?

I was going to get one once, but my driller told me that she didn't think I would like it. She said she felt it would be too strong for me, just wondering why you 2 don't like it.

I like it. In my normal house my average has gone up. I used it in a house I subbed in and it's not as good.

I heard that there are some bad ones out there.Case in point I drilled mine the first day it came out, sold it 2 days later. So hated that one, but I went to the Ebonite show case got to throw another one and it played great, same layout as mine, therefore it might be true that you could get a bad one. Hope you get a good one.

I don't hate the ball, I don't own one!

i have drilled 5 of them up for people, and each one seems to like theirs.
drilled one up for myself and like what i see from it so far. have only used it for about 3 games though. not enough oil around our area to really use it consistently. so i just keep it in the bag until we go to places that doesn't give free-hook right off the bat.

I don't have one that I have used, but from other people that have I've seen nothing but good results.

My teammate shot 299-804 with his on Friday...it looks very good to me.

Like it. I have around 15-20 games and ball is tracking. I bowl on wood lanes with guardian and clean after every set? Anyone else noticing that with theirs?

I wonder if the bowlers that don't like there's is because the ball was being used on the wrong condition or they had the wrong layout.

I know that's happened to me several times.  I just bought a LEVRG from MORICH and really have not had a chance yet to use it on the correct condition.  So this makes it tough to really get a true read on how it's going to work for me.

Same thing happened to me with the BWS.  My first one had the wrong layout for my game.  My 2nd one was much better and I should of kept it around longer.  I'm still considering getting another one since i'm in the process of building a tourney arsenal.

i am still in-between on mine.  my house dont put out enough oil so im screwed with it.  the first 2 weeks with the new lanes(anvilane) he had a 41ft. shot and that ball was a monster on it.  but then people complained they couldnt get their budget balls to hook, so he lightened the oil and shortened it to 34ft.  now no matter where i play, i get no reaction out of the ball.  last 3 weeks i have been throwing an old turbo/a acryllium and getting the same reaction as the bite.  which tells me i need more oil with the bite.

I used mine for the first time tonight in our sport league.  Even though it only has three league games and one practice game, I think I'm going to like it.  If you don't have oil in the front, keep it in the bag.

well im a high rev player
and the ball drilled negative pin below fingers cg kicked out neg side...is uncontrollable
the ball either rolls out at my feet, or goes long and snaps differently everytime

thats why i dont like mine personally,

What is a negative drill?

This ball is extremely strong.  Most that don't like it are trying to use it on too little oil or have the improper drill.  I didn't like the Epic Odyssey, not a bad ball, but a poor layout choice for me.

Too many shops still uneducated about assymettrical equipment. I've seen it in action, and the guy who throws it really likes it. Its a tad earlier than his TNV and stronger off the spot.

I have used every Black Widow and shot 300 with everyone of them and the bite is about 2-4 feet earlier than the solid but much harder off the friction.  The solid seemed to be a hard arc and the pearl was not that far from the solid except a bit more length and slightly more angular.  When my solid seemed to be just to touchy off friction the Bite is the answer.

BTW- I like it and their has not been a Black Widow I have felt is a bad ball as of yet.

This is a GREAT Ball, an improvement of the Original Black. Needs oil. Also, the tracking could be because the cover seems soft, which is why it's so aggressive.
