I'm looking for a strong solid asym for a heavy house shot, I'm looking at the gauntlet and the dv8 pit bull. Which ball do you think is stronger overall?

Gauntlet is a little longer and a little more backend.
But ball strength is not measured by how much backend it has.
these are both strong pieces

In oil = pitbull
Off the spot = guantlet

What places have enough volume where anyone can use these?
good gawd, these balls now are monsters and many of the ball companies are making them.
They are selling, so either its low ball speed or lots of volume (or both)
Or, I guess high ball speed
I used to be 400 rev guy before wrist surgery, I know its down somewhat, but there isn't a chance in heck I can use these anywhere.
Tried a Gauntlet at a demo days, just way to much on that pattern

maybe with some polish

Right? I love the look at the gauntlet, but it just isn't going to happen anywhere around here for me. There are people throwing alpha cruxes, ghosts, and no rules, and I don't know how they are doing it! Oh wait, I'm throwing my Ride and tripping out stuff and they have flat 10s galore and complaining that I am tripping out stuff lol

I can only speak to the Pitbull, which I own. It is impressive in oil. Yesterday, I threw mine on a house shot that had significant carry down from lots of plastic and urethane previously being thrown on the lanes. There was very little friction available. I couldn't get my IQ Tour at 2000 grit to read the lanes properly -- it just slid unless I really slowed down my ball speed.

The Pitbull was the trick. I wasn't able to go coast-to-coast, but I did get movement and a good angle to the pocket. It's one of the better new oilers available.

Took me a few years but I'm punching a haywire for state and nationals. The nationals part it just to burn up a lil spot for the first 8 frames or so lol.

Otherwise I haven't bought a solid stronger than the fight in quite some time. My trusty pyramid pathogen is strong enough lol

My center has a very heavy THS. My DV8 Endless Nightmare has been a frequent tool lately, in addition to my Elite Treason. My teammate has been using a Radical Guru Master. Other bowlers are using Locks, Alpha Cruxs, Grudges, Swerves, etc. Once the carry down hits around 3rd game, we all start moving right with the strong balls to adjust for it. Bowlers trying to use weaker equipment find themselves struggling to find a decent backend reaction.

If I had to pick between the Pitbull or the Gauntlet, I would go with the Pitbull just because of the great performance I have had from my Endless Nightmare. It is hard to beat the heavy roll you get from the high end DV8 asymmetrical stuff. Hammer makes good products too, but they have been jumpy on the backend for me in the past and not very forgiving.

I'm much more impressed with cover on my Pitbull vs. the cover on my Scandal. The Pitbull doesn't shine up as quickly, and it reads the oil better.

The Pitbull is my first DV8 and it most likely won't be my last.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I'm going to go with the pit bulll. Now to decide if I should go pin up or down lol. I forgot to mention I'm a med rev med speed, about 15-16mph bower. I like to really roll the ball so most of my balls are pin down and I have one pin up but not to sure if a pin down pit bull would burn up to quick for me. Here's a link of how I bowl.

the lower the pin, the longer the hook phase

Looking at your video, I am willing to bet you will have to play away from the pocket with your new Pit Bull. And if you like to play in the dirt, then pin-down may work.

But if you like to play the end of the pattern more, then I would think about a pin-up or at least something closer to the fingers (in a general sense). I like to let pattern length dictate pin-up/pin-down. Longer the pattern (less time in the dry) equals pin-up, while shorter patterns (or more time in the dry) pin-down.

The pattern we bowl on for league is medium length, probably around 40-42 ft. But the middle is completely flooded and outside the 3 board is bone dry. It's an easy tappered pattern but playing in the oil is more cosistsnt then trying to fade off the dry. That's why I want to be able to stay in earlier and break done the shot so as the lane burns up I can ball down and stay in the same general area
