Hammer 3-D Offset (WWRD 2/25/2022)
Does this ball sound familiar? The Hammer 3-D Offset has been brought up in conversations for years when people talk about great bowling balls. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 3-D Offset, Hammer bowling is offering new technology and outstanding performance to remind you of the ball motion but made for today’s conditions. Hammer started with the core shape, creating a single density inner core with the same shape as the original. The original was a thick-shell ball, and it’s been modified today’s version with a carbon fiber outer core. These modifications create more dynamic core numbers for increased ball motion potential and a durable, harder-hitting product. Hammer has also made this a D.O.T. ball which further increases durability and eliminates layout and drilling restrictions. The Blazing Violet color is almost identical to the original. The 12 & 13lbers have an alternate core but offers the same motion as the other weights.

I've drilled up a lot of bowling balls the past few years and there are about 1 or 2 a year that have the "wow" factor. Well 2022 has it's first "wow" ball as far as I'm concerned. The Hammer 3D Offset is just different. The ball hits so hard and the pins sound louder when this ball attacks. It has a small amount of pearl in the cover stock to give it some length and cleanness through the heads but man when it revs up it is special to watch. This one goes straight into the league & tournament arsenal. I see using it on a lot of different conditions.

I'm almost tempted to pull out my original 3D Offset, take it back to OOB finish, and either do a straight compare (which would be skewed; weight hole), or plug and put the same layout on it as I would a new 3D Offset, then do a compare. Back then, that ball still hit like a truck, so to see how they compare would be interesting.

Oh, not hit like a truck!   I thought we were going to retire that.   :)

I drilled one up, my sanctions against Mexico ended when I saw this ball lol. The original was my 2nd favorite reactive (Eraser #1, Road Hawg #1a).

This new 3D HOOKS. Yes, I only practiced 3 games with it, so it should tame down, but with my style (rev dominant, 15-16 mph), I don't think I'll need it in league at all. I'm thinking it's in the USBC Open bag right now, need to find a center who is laying down some sport shots.

I was easily 5-6 boards deeper than my HB Revival & Zing Hybrid. Still kicked out the 10 pin.

After throwing the original 3D Offset the last few months I was excited to try the new one out last night subbing in league. They did a great job getting this ball spot on with the original. Looking forward to comparing the two directly at some point during practice in the weeks to come. Very happy with this one.

For those of you that have it, would you say that this ball slots in above or below your benchmark ball/layout?

I ask, because as good as this ball was and is, I want it again, but am having trouble finding room for it, in relation to my benchmark ball (Web Tour Hybrid Edition). If the ball slots above it (read: strong with continuation), I run into a GB4. If it slots below it (read: angular), I run into a widow.

Most bowlers with videos up using it are using layouts close to my benchmark layout, but I'm not ready to give up the Web Tour Hybrid yet. so how would you slot this in between a GB4 Solid, Web Tour Hybrid, and a solid Widow?

Don't have one but have seen a few around me. It seems to be a good blend of angularity with a little bit of traction.

If I had to compare it, I'd put it around a Proof Hybrid or like an Incognito Hybrid(if they made one), sheet seeing the Collision some more last night it's also pretty close.

I've rarely used my GB4 because the cover is so strong and smooth for me, I can throw my Proof Hybrid in the same scenarios and still have blend but with more motion.

Drilled and threw mine Tuesday night. 965 for 4 games, very consistent reaction that held up. I only had to make minor moves and wrist position changes. Might hit the surface with 4k over the box to make it a little more continuous. Great first impression with this piece

This was one of the videos I went off of! Scoop's Bonus Solid (his benchmark) has the exact same layout I have on the Web Tour Hybrid, so that's what had me thinking about this. If I widen the second angle, I get closer to the GB4 which is 60x4.5x75. If I close up that angle, I run into my Black widow.

I'm trying to figure out how or even if I can squeeze the 3D Offset in between the Web Tour Hybrid and the GB4..

BL, That's an interesting problem.  The motion of this ball is much different than the black widow.  I would say this ball would be a step up from your Web Tour Hybrid, Much cleaner and more angular than the GB4.  The GB4 Solid will be 3-4 boards stronger than the Bonus, So the total hook out of the box should be close.  The shapes will be WAAAAAY different.  Honestly there isn't a ball in the entire Brunswick Family that has this motion.

Interesting then.. This would mean that I could ball up to it from the Web Tour Hybrid, but wouldn't need the length and angularity I'd get from any of my widows (save Urethane). My widows (solid and pearl) are at 70x4.5x30, so I could slot the 3D Offset between the Widows and the Web Tour.. say, 50-55 for the earlier roll/less length, same pin-to-PAP distance, then 30-35 for the VAL.. That actually would slot in nicely.. Then if I wanted something earlier in a solid I could go up more from that.

You may have just sold me. Thanks!!
