To those with the blue vibe.....
« on: February 18, 2008, 06:49:32 PM »
How strong is it?  I'm looking to put a RICO on something, the blue vibe or anger seems to be the obvious choice.

My Blue Vibe is an absolute beast!  It is drilled 4 1/2 x 4, with the pin above and between the fingers.  At factory finish, it would flip way too hard on the backends to be any good on a THS, so I took it down to 800 grit wet sand, and this thing is now my heavy oil monster.  It still gives a massive hook, but it is more readable and controllable than when it was polished.  I have seen many Angers thrown, but I have not thrown one myself.  So, based on my experience, I would say go with the Blue Vibe, it takes to cover changes well, and will surprise you with its big backend.  I don't know why they so cheap, they outperform most high end hooking equipment.  Good luck!

This ball is very versatile. You can cover alot of different lane conditions with simple coverstock changes. Best bang for the buck out there. IMHO! The ball is pretty strong OOB. If you are looking for descent length with big backend, it is your choice. If you are looking for earlier roll with arc go with the Anger(ofcourse this depends on the amount of oil you are bowling on). Can't go wrong with the BV because of it's versatility. Can't beat the price either!

I think the BV would be a better ball for a rico layout compared to the Anger.  The Anger has a very strong mid-lane and a rico layout may not give you a good reaction?

Like Maine PBA has told you, the BV is very strong.  In box condition it can be used on lighter/shorter patterns if you can play inside.  This ball has big backend potential depending on the patterns, layout and bowlers style.  Also as Maine PBA has told you, the BV is a beast when dulled!  This ball CAN handle heavy oil very well!

The Blue Vibe is really unique in that it still has an awesome backend move when dulled.  It can handle a ton more oil with the duller surface but still has awesome response to dry boards down lane!

I can only imagine how strong the Blue Vibe is with a strong pin placement.

I agree totally with what MainePBA has said about the Blue Vibe. I have mine drilled at 5-1/2 x 5. On the THS I bowl on it works for two games and then just won't stay on the left side, even for the first two games if I don't have a ton of speed it just jumps right through the face. This ball builds up a ton of energy until it hits dry and then explodes, I love it just hard to control. I will have to try some surface adjustments, maybe go to 4000 and see if it evens it out alittle.

My father has the Cherry Vibe, he seems to be able to play the same line the whole night. It seems to have the same power as the BV, just seems to have a slightly weaker cover stock.

The Vibe series is the best buy on the market, for the money you can't beat them.

Not really sure.  The Cherry is "Max-length reactive", which doesn't mean its a pearl.  The COLOR is Cherry Pearl, doesn't mean the cover is.

The Blue Vibe is a Cut Throat reactive:  Hammer's Cut-Throat coverstock features an aggressive base reactive with particle and pearl additives.

So, the Blue sounds like a particle pearl to me...

Cut Throat was a particle pearl cover. CT-Reactive is a solid reactive version of the same base material with no prearl or particle additives.
