Today's the day!!! The Hammer Diesel is available in your local pro shops. I have thrown the Diesel on various house shots, and will give my review. They matched the old Diesel core and wrapped it in their successful NBT Hybrid Coverstock. The results...wow. A very responsive surface ball with typical great Hammer hitting power. best part, it is a MP bowling ball!!! Don't let this bowling ball pass you by...

I agree!  This ball is fantastic!  I don't know why it hasn't gotten much press.
I have mine drilled with pin under ring finger.  Ball rolls heavy - carries like nobody's business on 44-foot house shot. In practice and in the 2 weeks of league that I used this ball I believe I've only left a 10-pin twice! Left ball at OOB surface.
Can't speak to the pin-up reaction.

I picked up a new one about a month ago and I'm still learning its strengths and weaknesses and how best to adjust with it. It definitely drives through the pins very well at times, but can also be a flat 10 machine on the wrong condition (as could any ball, of course). I think it will be more usable for me once I get more lane shine on it as the OOB condition is a bit strong for my normal house conditions.

go to the shop and have them adjust the surface, do not wait for it to get better.
You can try 4000 dull or you could try 1000 dull + polish. It wont change how "much" it hooks, it will change "where" on the lane it hooks. New equipment sometimes needs adjustment to find that sweet spot for you, lord knows I have done this a bunch of times

I'm sure that this will be happening in the near future. 1000+polish is my favorite surface, and 4000 dull is also a good surface for me. I only mention the lane shine because it rolled better for me last week after its first 6-7 games and it is noticeably shinier, so I thought I would just let nature take its course, so to speak, until I decide to let the pro shop make adjustments. Thanks for the tips.
