Title: Hammer Question
Post by: jablosa on February 26, 2007, 04:11:29 AM
Hey Hammer guys, I have a question.  One of my customers uses all Hammer products, and I need help selecting his next ball.

Heavy Oil - Hawg
Medium - Deal
dry - Pure Hammer

The Deal and the Hawg hook crazily for him, and he doesn't use them often.  The pure Hammer was a great fit for him.  However, he needs a ball between the Deal and the Pure Hammer, and not sure what would be best for him...He is thinking of the Widow, but I am afraid that ball still hooks too much..

What do you guys think....

Thanks a bunch..

The Blue Vibe with an even arc and great medium-light to medium conditions.
The Black Widow would between the Hawg and Deal. You might consider a Doom for a skid/snap look. A Toxic might be too strong, but also an option.

I'd agree with K-Dawg, but a Toxic over the Doom and a Blue Vibe.

Doom, 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

Blue Vibe.  I think Toxic or Doom may be too similar to the Deal.

Definately Blue Vibe.

Good Luck!!!

I have my Hawg Wild set to go long and nice arc
into pocket. I don't advise No Mercy as that thing
can hook from 1 arrow to 7 pin in a heartbeat.

I would suggest the DOOM or VIBE.

Yeah Hawg Wild is great! I bowled a 299 with mine. But you can always get a Widow, but drill it for lenght with minumum reaction.

don't under estimate the Vibe, I have one and the ball is amazing on the lane conditions that it's designed for.  I use it on med to light lanes and have had a lot of success with it.

Would the Vibe be to close to the Pure Hammer....that is what we are afraid of???

Well i guess you can look at it this way, the Vibe does have a Reactive Coverstock as to where the Pure Hammer is just a urethane ball.  The vibe for me covers medium all the way to bone dry for me.  however i do decrease revs on drier lanes.  I've never thrown the pure hammer but i bet that ball moves nice on a dry lane just like the vibe will do on a medium oiled lane.  I think the ball will fit nicely between the Deal and Pure hammer.  and did i mention the you can get the vibe in a pretty blue color? ha!

I think the Doom gives a little more separation from the Pure than a Vibe would.

I would also suggest the Blue Vibe. The Raw Hammer Pain and I think the Toxic as well are too close to the Deal in that lineup. And the Black Widow is way too much ball. It would fit between the Hawg and the Deal. So...I would suggest the Blue Vibe.

Thanks guys..Vibe looks like the way to go.  What I am going to do now is bring the surface of his Deal up higher, to try and be a little more in the middle of his 2 others.....then that might help the Vibe be an easier choice...

Ok, the surface changed help the Deal get further down the lane, and now the Vibe will be a perfect fit between the Deal and the Pure.  I ordered a 3-4 in pin?  Any suggestions on a lenthy smooth reaction for a Hammer product?? Thanks guys...

Try a 4.5" pin to PAP and stack it with the CG. Then, adjust the surface to meet the need.

Also, contact Hammer Brand Manager, Mr. Brian Graham (bgraham@ebonite.com). He's very helpful and responsive when he's available.

Jablosa,
Lengthy & Smooth, depending on the length you want, I agree w/ KDawg, I suggest either 4X4 or 5X5 (or somewhere in the middle).

Good Luck!!

Thanks for all the help, I appreciate it.  I myself am a Storm guy, so want to ask the right people for the right product.  However, I am leaning on Trying a Hammer Toxic...I heard it is one of the most versatile balls made..you guys agree...

I just bought a Toxic over the weekend to accompany my no mercy. My toxic is drilled pin under my ring putting the pin approx. 4.5 to my PAP;. All I can say is the Toxic is the most versitile ball I have ever thrown. I have never owned a Ball that gets through the mids as well has the toxic does, then its snaps back to thepretty hard to the pocket. Works great on medium oil, when the lanes get burnt I have to move sa little left but still can play a better line compared to my no mercy which was terrible on burnt lanes. Over all, the toxic is great.

No I totally disagree!  The TOXIC is a reactive pearl that has a lot of length and responds to friction big time.  I find this ball only good for walled up house patterns.

HAMMER NO MERCY is Un-freaking real!  Using this ball is like cheating!

Phoenix,

The Pure Hammer is not a urethane ball.  The black one was a urethane blend and the burgandy one was certainly all reactive.

With that said, the Blue Vibe with a normal lable shift drilling would be your best choice.
