Post by: notevenclose on December 28, 2009, 11:01:00 AM
Made the mistake of buying the wrong hammer ball this weekend I went out and bought the nasty and boy do I regret it I had it drilled strong (aggressive) o so I thought ball went flat about 40 ft down the lane after about eight games had it toned down to about 800 grid it got a little better but still not what I expected maybe because I’m a lefty very disappointed with it

Grammar and punctuation would make it much easier to read your post. How do you have the ball drilled? What is the shot you bowled on?

And keep in mind it was designed to hook less and in a totally different part of the lane than its predecessors, not just hook more than the others like everyone seems to be expecting it to.

What is this you say?  Every brand new ball is supposed to hook more than the last one-regardless....

This is blasphemy!!!(Obviously, not serious)

This ball with it's high RG value(2.58) was made to go longer as apposed to the  previous Widows with RG's in the 2.51 range. The Nasty is for playing deep verus a more up the boards approach.

True, a lower MB, but it has a high dif. of 57... And they have knocked off the polish and finished the ball at a 4000 A pad...

To me it is designed to go long with a strong back end, yet with less over and under....

Great ball...

Well I will 2nd the great ball comments. I just threw a demo ball for about 20 minutes (ball span was 4 1/2, and a little stretched for the ring for me), but I liked the way it rolled so much I had one drilled. Pin above the middle finger, cg right of palm, and the mass bias kicked out. A hole was needed to make it legal. I sometimes have mixed feelings after drilling something new the ball does not always do quite what you think it will. That is not the case here ----- wow. This ball rolls and reacts great. I threw it on a left over shot from the night before with significant carrydown. Gets down the lane easily and recovers like a dream. Great continuation, and the carry is phenomenal. After 12 shots I am sold.

Two things I recommend if you are looking at this ball:

1) The Nasty clears the front part of the lane great, but you can't miss on speed when the backends are clean.  I found it really easy to miss my breakpoint if I missed on speed.  This ball really shines when there's some carry down to play with.  When most balls would lose energy, this ball continues to drive through the carry down.

2) Let the Nasty roll, end over end off your hand.  I'm a tweener with a rev rate of about 350.  When I tried some different hand positions with more side roll, the over/under results were ugly.  The Nasty has enough flip on its own.
