Title: Has anyone resurfaced the Real Deal?

I've been liking the performance of my Real Deal so far in its box condition.  Eventually, with all the knicks and scratches that will appear on the cover, I will need to resurface the ball.  I was thinking about using a green scotch brite pad to bring it to a 600 grit finish.  My thought was that the 600 grit surface would fare better than the box condition (which I believe is 1000 grit).

If you were going to best utilize the Real Deal in heavy oil, would you resurface the ball to box condition or bring it down to a 600 grit finish?

IMO, 600 would be too much surface.  

Also what do you mean fare better at 600 than 1000?

I agree with anotherwindup.  The ball is a monster at 1000.  Unless you have blazing speed or some extreme axis tilt, 600 would likely be too much, causing the ball to roll out.  If you're on that heavy of a pattern (I've seen them) and it doesn't break at 1000, it likely won't at 600 either.

Thanks for the feedback.  When I need to resurface my Real Deal, I'll definitely bring it to 1000 grit.
