Has anyone tried to polish the HiRev

I like my HiRev in box condition.  I was able to shoot a 258 with it!!  I was thinking about experimenting with the cover by shining it up with Black Magic polish or Storm Xtra Shine.  I'm predicting that it will increase the backend reaction.  I would like to hear from other Hammer bowlers that polished their HiRev.

Can you describe the reaction that you got when you shined it up?  I'm just curious.

I have 2 Hi-revs.  

1 box finish  5" Pin to PAP  60* layout.  Pin under ring

1 high polish-  5' pin 90* layout.   pin above ring finger.  

Both balls are absolutely awesome.   I had no problem polishing the ball, but that is what I wanted and did it before I ever threw a shot with it.   Therefore, the only reaction I know out of the ball is the polished version.  

These 2 balls have completely different reactions which is EXACTLY why I drilled them different and why I polished one.  

That is how I handle all balls that I KNOW I will be polishing.   I polish them prior to drilling.  


Personally, I would suggest you use Ebonite's Factory Finish polish on all of your Ebonite/Hammer products, but if that is not an option then any good polish will work.

I just polished my High Rev.  I didn't use Black Magic polish or Storm Xtra Shine.  I got this idea from the Lane#1 message board on this site. They recommended using 3m rubbing compound, which you can get in an auto parts show.  That got me thinking.  The 3m rubbing compound is similar to the Meguiar's Step 2 Deep Crystal Polish.  I had a bottle that I currently use on my car.  I took the plunge and, with the use of a spinner, polished my high rev with Meguiar's Deep Crystal Polish.  The polish gave the High Rev a nice shiny and tacky surface.  I went to practice with my newly polished High Rev.  The ball motion is so smooth.  It makes a nice strong arc to the pocket.  I had a bunch of 200s with this newly polished High Rev.  No overreaction, no under reaction.  It just smooths the arc of the ball.  I used this on a medium-heavy / medium oil condition.  I like my High Rev even more.  I'll start polishing all my pearlized and polished particle and resin balls with Meguiar's Step 2 Deep Crystal Polish.
