so i was bowling league last night, and i brought in both of my black widows...
my first one is my money ball that has the pin above my ring with the mb above 1.5"-2" out from my thumb with a weight hole 4 inches out from my midline... it has 3/4 side weight and 7/8 finger weight... the ball is plain money, clean through the heads and a versatile controllable backend reaction... i got a second one a while back and havent really thrown it much due to how well the first one was rolling... i realized my second one didnt roll that great since i put it at 1000 right out of box, and i am cranker so it was burning up to fast and just sitting there, and i knew it wasnt the ball but it was the combination of layout and cover prep...
the 2nd one is drilled 6" from PAP (pin under my middle finger with the cg and MB both being swung out pretty far... the Mb is about 4 inches or so out from my thumb...so it was a good midlane read and the great backend of the black widow... or so i thought... i never really used it because i never found a shot to use it on... so i changed the cover to 2000, still the same result of getting wishy washy reactions... it would roll out, crush, go high and go light... i just didnt get it because i would pull out #1 and it would be money... so i decided that i would change the cover yet again before the tourney i bowled this weekend ( Vegas Open at the Orleans) i took it up to 4000 grit abralon and hit it with a light coat of ebonite factory finish polish,... i didnt use it till the last two games of the tournament but when i threw it it rolled well... which surprised me but then realizing that it would now push through the heads cleaner and not burn up so early fromt he dull cover it made sense...
so onto my main point, i was ready to give this black widow to my buddy kevin due to the fact i never threw the ball and obviously the layout was not workin well with me... i go into league last night thinkin of giving it one more chance... that i would see how it rolled on a THS one more time and if it rolled well i would keep it and if not i would kiss it good bye....
so in practice i am standing about 30 hitting 18 getting it out to about 10 and have a really good look... so i was thinkin i will start throwing it when league starts ( a little singles league at my local house so i have something to bowl in the summer) , granted a couple weeks ago i shot 300/805 with my doom in that league i was feelin pretty confident that the shot was a little open
so i start the first game with the front 8, leave a ten pin, double and leave another ten for 278... not a bad start with a ball i was thinkin about getting rid of... then i move onto game two, and go FRONT 11 and leave a swisher 7 for 299, this i was niot happy about because 300 would have been that much better but 299 still nothing to sneeze at by any means...
then game 3 rolls along and i go front 5, and at this pioint my line was getting a little dried out cuz i had just tripped a four pin on the lean i missed on after front 5... i left a high 6 pin... so i knew an adjustment was in order... so i moved in 2 boards and was back on track... and struck out for 279
278 - 299 - 279 = 856 with the Black widow i did not like the day before haha
it was my highest 3 game set ive ever had and i was thinkin about givin it away HA
my 4th game i went front 5 again, ten pin, 9 pin, strike, 4 pin sheet for 248
totalling 1104
then there is this little roll off thing after for the 4 highest series of the night, and shooting 1104 i was pretty much in it no matter wut
so i dont take any practice so my 4th game can be the start of a new 3 game series... and im bowling my buddy brian and leave a 6 pin because there was some down time, do a little adjustment and throw 9 in a row (different pair) and leave a ten pin and spare it for 279, so im turning 527 going into the last match... start out with a strike then leave a nice 7-10 to ruin the chance of another 800 but wound up shooting 224 that game
so my total for my 6 games last night was 856 + 751 = 1607 (thanks for the adding help)
if i ever think about getting rid of this ball again... i will post and i hope everyone on here will tell me how stupid i am for even thinking it again...
