Atleast mine is.. its bean a dud for a few months now.. I have tried every grit, bathing it. dulling it.. 500 with polish, 2000 with polish, 4000 with polish..
nothing seemed to work... but last night the last trip through the dish washer must have done something to it.. I dulled the ball down to 500 abralon before washing it.. After I took it to 1000, then a quick hit with 4000 abralon and hit it with some storm xtra shine. Tonight it actually moved like it used to when it was new.. got down the lane and rolled strong and hard..
before the ball seemed to burn up in the heads or just transition way to fast when it hit dry and would roll out... not sure what is different this time but it is working..
I was just getting ready to dump it and get a new ball.. I guess it will work for a bit longer now..

It sounds like you did a LOT to that poor ball.

Could it be that in your anxiety over it not performing, that you lost track of which time you did what? Maybe you didn''t even do the set-up as thoroughly as you might have, prior to the final couple of steps?

I think it''s just human nature. I know I have gotten a little upset over a ball''s reaction at times, wondering what was going on. I put it aside for a few months, like you did. Then, seeing it sitting there, I worked it over again from scratch, like you did, and, poof! it was back. And I thought I did nothing wrong.

Glad it''s back. It might have been the final washing, but I thought the Whup''n cover was one of the first of the lower (not low) oil absorptions for Hammer. I could be wrong.

I have been trying to use it over the months.. it just didn't ever react like it did when I first got it..
I will admit that alot of times I did so much to it I didn't know what I did to it.. It just wouldn't work one week so I would toss it on the spinner and hit it with 1000.. then next week before I left for bowling would hit it with straight 4000, the 4000 with polish.. nothing seemed to work..

right now I would say it is duller than usual and you can still see some rougher lines from the 500 abralon sanding before the washer.. I didn't hit it with the 2000 and 4000 that much.. before when it was 4000 and polished to shiny heaven it would hit the lane and just die of my hand and roll out immediately..

not sure how being duller helped it but it is transitioning slower I guess...
There was a decent amount of oil tonight too.. but I used it as two different houses.. weird coincidence that both houses were oily enough for the ball to work..
I'll try it tonight at a third house and see what it does..

Strange stuff with the No Mercy Whup'n.. this ball actually gets stronger the more you polish it.. I'm not talking about getting down the lane and having a stronger backend.. but just freakishly rolling out strong..

so I had it working pretty good last week.. I wanted a little more length and a little more backend.... Thinking the great performance I was getting was due to getting the oil out of the ball I decided to polish it up a bit more..(storm xtra shine)

Tried it out in practice.. the ball would hit the lane and immediately go into a forward roll.. Tried 4 or 5 shots with exagerated axis rotation and nothing would help it.. Grabbed a grey scotch brite out of my bag and ran it around the surface to knock off the shine.. completely different ball.. Ball held its rotation through the heads and mids and took off on the backend..

Anybody have an idea what is going on? I thought polish provided length and reserved energy throughout the lane until it got to the really dry in the back..
This is what it does on all my other balls..
Not the case with the no mercy whup'n???
