This all depends on what your idea of bench mark ball is. My idea of bench mark ball is something that I can read the lanes with. Something to figure out the pattern.
For me I use the DOOM. Some may not like using a reactive pearl for reading lanes but I have found this ball tells me a lot of info about the conditions. If the DOOM slides too much then I know there's heavier oil on the lanes. When it encounters dry it let's you know. It also slides a bit on carry down. This tells me where the carry down is or if any is present on the lanes. If the DOOM overreacts on the back end then I know there very dry. Too me this is the perfect bench mark ball.
The PAIN is also a good bench mark type of ball. It just goes about it in a different manner than the DOOM. If the lanes are too dry then the PAIN will be hooking too much. If this ball overreacts on the backend then you know there really dry. It ignores carry down for the most part and this makes it a bit difficult to know if there's any present. That's why I prefer the DOOM for reading the lanes.
Hope this helps you out bud.
