Hot Sauce Pearl vs Storm Virtual Energy
« on: July 20, 2009, 02:36:46 AM »
I am in the market of purchasing a new bowling ball and was looking at the Storm Virtual Energy versus a Hot Sauce Pearl. I currently have the Virtual Gravity and a T-Road Pearl, but was looking for something that would fit in the middle of those two. I've had my T-Road Pearl for a couple of years now and know that I want something with a little more bite in the mids and overall backend. Therefore, I really thought about getting the Virtual Energy, but a friend of mine said the Hot Sauce was a "beast" of a ball.

Being that this is the Hammer section of the forum, possibly someone can compare their Hot Sauce Pearl to a Virtual Energy. I have seen the Virtual Energy in league and tournaments, but never the Hot Sauce.

If you could please comment on this, I would greatly appreciate it.

To me the hot sauce pearl was too long and if any oil in the backend of the lane it just wanted to squirt. For me i thought the T-road pearl was way more player friendly and had an awesome response to friction.
My energy is very strong. Up front it rolls very close to the gravity but a little quicker response in the back. i would think the furious drilled pin down would be closer to in the middle of the two.

One thing to bear in mind:  the Virtual Energy is a two-parts-pearl, one-part-solid hybrid, which means it generally can handle a little more oil than a pure pearl coverstock, and will be slightly earlier rolling.  That said, it's still a very angular ball, especially in its out-of-the-box polished finish.  I have not seen many people throw the Hot Sauce Pearl, and I also have not seen many people throw the Virtual Energy yet since it's too new.  Just throwing some more info out there.

Both are very good balls. My 1-2 punch right now is a VG (which I am selling to get a  jigsaw), and a Hammer Hot Sauce, both drilled pin under. The minute my VG goes high are starts to burn up, I move straight to the HS and am in the pocket. The HS is a beast of a ball, and mine has over 300 games on it, and its just as strong as the day I got it. I clean after every set. There is not one ball that gives you the look of the Hot Sauce Pearl if you are craving a strong back end. With that said, the VE is a nice ball. I threw a friends ball on a ths shot, and while the carry was awesome, it did not recover like the HSP did. And I ended up moving 2 boards farther right to compensate. You can't go wrong with either ball, the breakpoint shapes are very different though, if you are looking for a gradual aggressive move to the pocket then the VE may be what the doctor ordered. What i mean is ) instead of 7. If you are looking for lots of length and a mean backend.. HSP all the way.

Bad matchup I would say, just like me with Brunswick products. I had a total of 5 different wild rides, and I could not get any of them to do much, while others were shooting honor scores with them!
