I would take the tape out leave the grips in and use Dawn liquid dish soap . Use as hot a water as you can get out of tap let the ball stay in water 20 to 30 minutes then pour out put ball back in and keep rinsing until all oil is gone you may have to repeat bath a couple of times depending on how much oil in ball but this procedure works very well and is cheap to do I recomend using a 5 gallon bucket in the bathtub

My recommendation is put it in a tub and pour dawn into the tub. You should remove the tape but the grips are fine. Soak it for about 20 minites. It will get rid of the oil.

Don't use dish soap...
I remember hearing that at the time when the EPX was still in production, Del Warren stated that it was best to use little or no soap in the recommended hot water bath because it can create a soap/lane conditioner emulsion that kills the balls reaction.

How effective is this method versus getting an oil extraction done at a shop? Is giving the ball a bath to "sweat" out the oil the same as an oil extraction/resurface?

What about the holes?? Do you just leave them open for water to rush in?? I've always wondered about that?

I just got done awhile ago soaking my No Mercy. That ball sucks up a ton of oil. I try and do it on a monthly basis. It's like throwing a brand new ball after I'm done with it.
