I have the Burgundy PH and like it, although it is much stronger than expected and than BTM's review predicted. I can use it with an average drill and the stock surface almost up to true medium oil. I've read many good things about the BV.

So if you've used both or have seen both in action, I'd like to hear your opinion of their comparison. (Hopefully with similar drills by the same person ...)

My Pure and BV are drilled somewhat close to each other. And they roll very similar. The BV definitely has a stronger midlane and is more aggressive off the spot.

I can give you my insight on my Blue Vibe. My Blue Vibe is a cheater ball I think. IT IS SO AGGRESSIVE. The layout is 5 by 2 1/2 with a hole down and in from my axis. I can't see the Pure rolling the same if all the Vibes roll like how mine does.

Carlest, I just bought a BV about two weeks ago. Mine is drilled pin above the bridge, 5.5" from my pap, CG kicked right to almost 1oz and no balance hole.

I have never owned a burgundy pure and never seen one roll so I can't be of much help comparing the two balls. Is the burgundy anywhere close in reaction to the Black Pure Hammer?

The BV is not a weak ball. It get's great length and has a strong arcish back end. One would still most likely have to play inside with this ball on dry lanes. It's got a lot of back end! However it does glide thru the heads with ease and is actually very controllable on the back end. For me the back end reaction is a cross between flip and arc.

I see the BV being able to be used on light patterns and can be used on some medium. I really am floored by the performance of this ball. I can't believe it's being sold at the price point it's at.

I hope this helps you out. I would grab one if I were you.

In our area some of incredible bowlers were using the Big Deal and the Doom.

They looked unbelieveable!

All of a sudden they switched to the Blue Vibe. They are still unbelievable but the ball made them look human. I guess that is what demoing a ball does I guess....

I have seen the Burgundy Pure Hammer on the lanes...it was almost like a heavy rolling urethane with a small amount of pop at the back so that you knew it was partially a reactive. A specialty piece.

I have seen average good bowlers with the blue vibe...look well .......average. I never see the ball used in our area anymore. Nor the Burgundy Pure...but I believe maybe in some cases it should be.

The Burgundy Pure compared to the Black Pure is about 1/2 notch more ball in oil handling, overall hook and backend, as near as I can tell. The Black was a combination of urethane and resin, while the Burgundy is all resin.

HTH: my Sure Fire drilled strong is "not" stronger than the Blue Vibe drilled weaker. Actually it's about 2-3 boards weaker. However, the Blue Vibe is at about 1500 while the Sure Fire is at 4000.

While I was thinking about getting one, because of all the good press it gets here, I was concerned about it overlapping with the Burgundy Pure Hammer I have.

I didn't have a good feel for the BPH except for the BTM review for it at the same which said it was a very mild ball for dry-ish lanes. So I drilled it on the label which put the pin at about 4" from my axis point.

With the stock cover, fairly shiny (1000 grit polished), I could describe it almost the same way as you described your BV, except for the great length part. Your "great length" is not surprising given your pin location. However, everything is relative: your "hand", ball speed & release on your oil pattern with the BV and mine with the BPH. I was able to cover medium-light to medium oil with it, playing the medium oil further right/outside, of course.

While my BPH does not get "great length", it is not what I would describe as a control ball. I could force it into that with a re-drill and some surface changes, but it is nice the way it is, although I have not used it since last season (2006/7).

Given the above and bluerrpilot's comments, I have not taken the step to buy one. It may be good, but I have tons of balls (from testing and experiments) that cover this range of oil.

The Pure definitely gets more length than the BV but it does have more finger weight. Both have a similar arc shape. The pure might flip a little harder but not much. The BV starts sooner and rolls better. The Pure is more influenced by oil and carry down. I would say the 2 do overlap some. But the BV is much stronger in the midlane giving it more overall. Also the BV takes cover changes better.

No nothing more than normal. Its at 4000 abralon then hit with Black Magic. I think the pic might have been taken right after polishing
