Why DON'T you have a Doom?
« on: May 17, 2006, 12:13:44 AM »
Seeing as how it's one of the best balls going AND cheap.    I don't think I've heard from anyone who was UNhappy after throwing this ball.

I can't say except for myself. I was going to drill one, got a super deal on an OverTime. Just couldn't pass it up. Having a Hawg Wild, XXcel, Xcel and now OverTime, just can't see a spot for a Doom.

I'm sure there will come a time I'll have one in the bag, it is a super ball (thrown one and loved it ), but until I clear out a couple, it'll stay on the shelf.

Chitown and I have had many conversations about the Doom, and IMO, it's one of a few, that you can make so many cover adjustments to cover a wide range on conditions. For myself, it'll be there, just need to clear a spot.

Others, I think, really can't understand how versital this ball is, or they just don't like Hammer, not sure , but it is a diamond in the rough, just needing folks to use it once and then they'll see for themselves.

Splendorex I feel the Doom is so good that bolwers who don't have one are missing out big time.  This ball is that good.  Every bowler should have this ball in there bag.

I'm seeing if I can shake out some Hammer haters and convince them to give it a try.

OK; I'll bite. I actually had a Doom when they first came out, but I traded it away after a couple of weeks and very few games. This is not to say that it was a bad ball in the least. I thought that it was a solid medium-condition pearl ball, and one of the best-looking balls that I've ever owned. Still, it did not out-perform my Paradigm, which played very similar for me, so I got rid of it. Perhaps drilling it differently would've placed it in a different spot in my bag and allowed me to keep it around longer. In any case, like I said, not a bad ball in the least; I just didn't have room in the bag to hang onto it. My loss

all the talk about the Raw Doom, reminds me of when I first heard about Reactive Resin. I was out of bowling from 1981 til 1990...I stopped in Bowlers Custom pro Shop in Chicago, talked to the owner Ron Dompke. He told me about the this new coverstock...I asked him if it would hook more than my Yellow Dot, he told me it would outhook it by 7 boards...I had a Columbia Pro Hook drilled up...It outhooked my YD by 6-7 boards... It's how I got sucked back into the game.

I ordered a RAW DOOM for the same reason...to see if it's for real. :-)

Can you guys believe this ball is so cheap and performs like it does.  To think some people feel that high end balls perform better than mid priced ones.  The people who feel that have never thrown a Doom!

They're referring to the way new balls are always coming out, and people are always thinking they're so much better than the old ones.

Pretty much in the same boat as biker, I would love to give this ball a try but just don't got the cash right now. Might get it sooner or later.
