Big Blue
« on: October 07, 2005, 01:35:41 AM »
Has anyone try to polish this ball? What kind of reaction do you get when you polish? What's the best lane condition for this ball? I haven't been able to use this ball as of late. Ball doesn't move when there's oil and hits soft when there's no oil.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply harry, I want to keep this ball tho, bowled my highest game with it. I've heard a lot of bad reviews on this ball too, but I want to keep trying it out.

Is it worth the time & money to polish this ball up?

HLT, I understand what you're saying, this ball worked pretty good for me about a month after I got it, then nothing, I sanded it down to get it back to OOB, but still nothing. Wanted to try something new so I could use it again. But it seems like it's not really worth $40.00 to have this ball sanded down and polished.

But, thanks for all those who replied. If anyone else has had success with a polished Big Blue, let me know.

$40 to sand and polish???!!! Where the heck do you go? My pro shop polishes/sands my equipment for either free or for a couple bucks.

I don't want to give out the name of the shop, cuz I know some people on this forum knows him. He's a nice guy, but charges an arm and a leg to fix our equipments. I gave my friend a Track Phenom Unleashed and Pro shop guy charged him $80.00 to plug and redrill.

!
We charge 5.00 to alter a surface and 30.00 to plug all holes and redrill.
No wonder you're hesitant to get it polished if it's gonna cost you 40 bucks.  You'd be better off buying a bottle of polish and applying it yourself.

The problem with that is, I don't have one of those spinners. I don't want an uneven polish. Where do you live, those prices are incredible.

Many people didn't use this ball as intended.

This ball was to designed to replicate the motion of the old Blue Hammer.  Many people thought this was a hook monster, blah, blah, blah-  it wasn't.

I really liked mine for some time as it gave me a very smooth arching reaction which is what I need based on my revs.    I really liked this ball polished to answer your question.    It skated down the lane better, and was a little stronger at the breakpoint, as the polish allowed it to save some energy.

If I was to hand polish, what polish should I be using? I really want to give this ball one last chance.
