Post by: crusher267658 on March 02, 2007, 08:47:24 AM
And I bowled great doing the one step approach. Bowled a 190 doing the one step.

I actually plan on bowling quite a few games that way this summer(training season). I do pretty well with ti considering most of the people I bowl with can't seem to get the hang of it.

Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can't... you're probably right.

There's a guy in my league that uses a one step approach.  That's his game.  It looks different but he's one of the best bowlers in the league.

It's kinda weird because sometimes I do better doing a one step approach than I do my normal 5 step approach.

One step drill is a good drill but if done improperly it can cause bad habits. When i worked with John Jasnau we worked on this drill for swing and body alignment. He recommended working without pins as you are not shooting for a score just trying to re-develop muscle memory. He stated you should not throw one step drill much over 12-13mph at most let the swing fall and feel the weight of the ball upon release at the fingertips. Somepeople tend to try to emulate their strike shot and muscle the downswing and force the release. Also work with this drill to "post" the follow through. A camera from the rear angle aligned with the arm swing can also help show when you have flaws in the swing.
