I just got back into bowling after about a 3-4 year layoff. I am averaging 185 with my current equipment (Two Track Machines). Both are polished, one is drilled to snap hard on the backend and the other drilled up to roll early and provide more of an arc. Problem is, I am having a huge problem getting the ball out enough or even finding a line that works with these things especially when the lanes break down. Now my question.
Is there anything on the market that is comparable to the Hammer DOOM? This was quite possibly my favorite ball of all time, slightly over my Ninja Fury and Vortex 1. I am looking for something that is as good of a skid/flip ball as the Doom, but I am not up to the new technology. Any opinions?

try the hammer epidemic you will not be disappointed

not to say eric is wrong but, all the epidemics I have seen thrown so far(alot) sorta hit like a wet noodle..the epidemic looks to be very conditional to me.. I would suggest the new taboo pearl coming out.. plus if you purchase the taboo pearl you can get a free spare ball with the gas mask core(best core hammer has ever made in my opinion).. that alone is a plus..

Both the Epidemic and new Taboo are going to be way stronger compared to the Doom. The Onyx Vibe would be kind of close, but it has been discontinued so probably will have a hard time finding that. Only other option would be the Grape Vibe but it will be cleaner through the front compared to the Doom. Hope this helps you out some.

i would suggest either one of the vibes or columbia freeze. you could also look at something like a victory road pearl or tropical heat or i think roto grip is coming out with a dark star replacement

storm victory road, roto grip bandit, storm marvel, and the new storm virtual gravity nano pearl are awesome. and to me, that nano pearl will be the best ball on the market if not possiblly one of the best the market has ever seen. nothing against hammer, its a great company i personally love it. but reliabity wise i think that new nano pearl would be the ball to go with. it is great on everything that i has been able to use it on thus far. house shot, highway to hell, middle road, turnpike, and autobahn. the pro shop staff just drilled him up one and he loves it as well. the ball is unstoppable!!!!!! forgiving, great length. great continuation through the pins. easy to adjust with. very readable. hands down the ball is amazing. it would not be a waste of your money. i can promise you that.

Not going to try and discredit what anybody is saying, but the original poster asked for a suggestion to have a motion like his doom, which was a midline pearl when made, and now compared to current balls has become much weaker. I have read a couple saying the Taboo blue/silver or even Nano Pearl, both of which are MUCH more dynamic in core and much much stronger covers.
I understand the last poster's reply that he clearly loves the Nano Pearl, and you have probably had one a few weeks, but for a ball that just hit the market yesterday, and hasnt been on anyone's hands for long, saying it quite possibly will be the best ever is very far fetched at this point, and you are using a personal bias to try and tell the original poster. It may very well be a great ball, but would not fit what he is looking for in a comparison to the Doom.
Better bets to get a closer reaction to what the Doom was would be balls like the track 503C, Eruption from Columbia, although will be smoother, and more likely the Grape Vibe, even though people say it would be cleaner, but 5+ years after the Doom's release, it would be much more comparable in ball motion than many would think.

If you want to stay with the brand, the closest would be the Grape Vibe. I have a Doom that goes with me to every tournament I bowl in. I love that peice. I hope you can find one that rolls the way you want it to.
Respect the skill....not which hand it's thrown with.

If I am not mistaken, the Doom had the Ebonite One cover..which the Cyclones also now have. The have the same RG, and the Diff. is just slightly higher. I would say the black/gold version drilled just a smidge weaker than what you had your doom drilled out will give you something similar. Tweak the cover til you see the motion you want.
