My Doom is holding up great.
« on: February 17, 2006, 12:21:35 AM »
My Doom has about 60 games on it and the cover is still in box condition.  The ball still reacts great and has a big back end move.  Still hits like a missle also.   I'm posting this because there was one guy on here that had a problem with his after about the same number of games.

Well it is keeping up just like new.  I will post again after I get 100 games on it.  I use this ball the most out of any ball in my arsenal.  Mostly because I use it for my dry lane ball also.

I read your post about 5 minutes after it came on line this morning.  I threw mine Tuesday & was not happy with it. Tried it for 3 frames Wednesday nite & put it away. Had another guy throw it for a few frames & he shook his head.  I don't know if I should order another one, change brands or ?????  So far I love the new Hammer stuff, but when I get a deal like this I have to stop & wonder.  Kinda lost I guess. My son throws only Storm.  I buy the equipment & make him stay with 1 brand & 1 brand only.  I feel that he has no overlap this way.  So far for the last 5 years it has worked very very well.

Great news, I don't think the Doom will have many problems as long as the cover is cleaned and maintained.

That is exactly as to what I am upset about.  This ball looks new & has never went 4 games with out being cleaned. The pro shop owners were surprised because the ball/cover looked almost new.

Sukie,
If your Doom was "oil soaked", as I understand from the other topic, then you'll need to clean it a bit better, or not use it on conditions it wasn't designed for. It very well could be that you just have a  cover like the Road Hawg, that wants to soak up oil, but I'd say it was just used on more oil than you knew ND IT WASN'T REALLY DESIGNED FOR HEAVY OIL.

Hope you have better luck with it now, Good Luck !

Hammer'em!

I use ebonites energizer cleaner only.  I use it after every 3 games with this ball.  In fact that's how I use it on all of my equipment.  3 games then they get cleaned.

My Doom is still in it's OOB condition.  It doesn't shine as much as when it was new but it siure reacts awesome.  This ball is a great piece.  The back end is huge on the correct lane condition.  Yes it still has that tacky feel but a lot of that maybe the cleaner combined with the cover.

Sukie obviously must of got a dud of a ball or just played it on heavy oil which this ball isn't designed for.  He also mentioned that his Doom was not good on carry down?  Well what pearl reactive ball is?  None that I know of.  Some are a little better than others but most are not carry down balls.  I feel Sukie just has not bowled on the correct conditions with his Doom.

The Doom is an awesoome pearl reactive ball.  I will buy many of these before there discontinued.
