Identify and Review old Hammer?
« on: October 31, 2007, 01:34:25 PM »
Been looking for some used balls as my first ball.  Found this on craigslist.  Is this good enough for regular use.  I have not been able to find much information on it.

Thank you in advance.

These would be O.K. to play with.  They are a bit old by todays standards, but the 2 columbia's and the hammer are reasonably good balls with reactive covers and decently dynamic weightblocks in them.

The maxim is very much like the brunswick pearl you mentioned before and would be good to throw straight at spares if you do not strike the first try.

Thanks Juggernaut.  I've been playing weekly with my buddies during offseason in football and I think I've gotten to really like bowling now.  I though used was the way to go since I didn't know exactly what all these fancy things bowling balls do.  With house balls I've been bowling pretty good and consistently and wanted to get a feel of a ball with a core to see the difference.  Unfortunatley I've tried my local pro shop and even friends but my fingers are too big normally for the ones they have.

Considering these are older balls what would you pay for them?

The 4D Hammer appears to be the pearl version.  The black Rock is a particle coverstock and the purple Rock is a particle pearl coverstock.

Looks like someone is dumping an old 3 ball arsenal to me...

I wouldn't offer more than about $25-$30 for each ball, but that is me.  That is all they would be worth to me.  Remember, you will have to pay shipping on them also most likely.  You can compute shipping charges on www.ups.com

The bag is/was a high dollar item at one time.  If it is still in decent shape, it will bring alomost as much as all four balls together.

thanks for the links J Mac and info Juggernaut.  Fortunately I'm within 30 minutes of this location so I can pick it up.  I was only planning on picking up possibly two of them.  We'll see what kind of price I can get for this.  Thanks again.
