I am in a similar situation. I also have a BWP which has a layout, where the pin is high (around 2" above the ring finger). This caused it to lope in the midlane and then it was somewhat uncontrollable at the breakpoint.
I recently took it down to just 4000 abralon, just basically removing the polish, and it has made a big difference. I think 2000 abralon would be even better. I keep my BW at 2000 abralon and it is great.
If I had it to do over again, I would drill the BWP with the pin lower. On my BW I drilled out the pin, in the ring finger, and it is great. I would probably do the same on the BWP, if I had another one.
