Blue Vibe reaction

Hi guys, I'm needing some help.  I have a blue vibe and loved it.  It had im guessing fifty to sixty games on it so I decided to clean it.  All I did was put it in a spinner and use regular Black Magic cleaner.  After I did that it seems to have lost the back end snap it had.  I clean and sand my regular Black Widow every five to ten games and it works fine.  I realize they are different style balls.  I need some information as to why the vibe has went downhill and how to get it back.  It just does not make sense that just using black magic would have that effect.

Not on the vibe.  It was working great still but had some junk building up so I just wiped it down.  I did and do regularly on the widow

Which Black Magic "cleaner"?

The Black Magic cleaner I know of is Rejuvenator. It just does not have that effect on balls. In fact, it's one of the best everyday cleaners I know of.
Black Magic has another cleaner called "Ultra Clean" but it does not do a very good job on bowling balls.

If the Vibe is oil soaked, it is strange that it went into "shutdown" mode, just as you "only" cleaned it.

Didn't intend to dis you or the ball. I still use mine and at 4000 grit + polish, it doesn't see much oil, and whatever is ther egets cleaned off fast.
PLUS many times a cleaner is combined with a polish and that affects the ball, although some people don't realize that. I'm not sure what you used. So I was asking.

I used the rejuvenator. I thought the same thing about it should not have had that effect.  I'm kind of lost to be honest.  All I did was use the rejuvenator cleaner with a towel in a spinner.  Thats it.  The ball was working great just like when I first got it but it had some dirt on it so I wiped it down.

People might call us crazy, but I had the same problem with the rejuvenator. I used to use it til it turned my Domination and Agent into darts. I don't know how or why but i could never get them "back" either. They just turned them into dry lane balls for me. But my friend would throw the Domination and it hooked like crazy for him. Don't know if it just changed the surface or what but for me it was never the same.

Just too bizarre.
Sorry, I have no fix/correction other than what I already wrote ....
* Rejuvenator should NOT have worked like an on/off switch.
* The ball should not have reacted that way, as far as I know.

Aside: I see no special reason to use ANY cleaner with a spinner. "Elbow grease" + cleaner is what removes the dirt of any sort. I have seen some cleaners, Track's Magic Shine, as an example, put a light shine on a dull ball (I ONLY tried that when someone mentioned the same strange situation.). I have not seen Rejuvenator do that, but then, I don't do that. I strongly recommend that o one do that, EVER!

I would, at this point in time, as one who "played" with surfaces a lOT, recommend this right now for you:
1. Sand the ball, ON THE SPINNER, WITH LOTS OF WATER, with a (FRESH!) 2000 grit Abralon pad,
2. Sand the ball with a FRESH (!) 4000 grit Abralon pad,
3. Re-polish it with a good polish. Either the stock Ebonite Factory Finish polish or Valentino's Snake Oil Or Brunswick's High Gloss (factory finish) polish gently.

On my Blue Vibe, I've recently gone from 4000 + polish TO 2000 + polish, BACK TO 4000 + polish, with no problems. I have about 25 games on mine.

If all this fails, do the good old hot water bath on a 320 grit sanding! Then restore it to its stock surface.

I use my spinner to clean my equipment. It's more of a logistical thing for me, I keep my cleaning supplies near the spinner. A few sprays of cleaner and very light pressure works for daily cleaning.

Ebonite Energizer (the citrus one) is the only spray cleaner I've seen leave a slight shine. I've used Rejuvenator, Lanemasters and now Remedy on the spinner with no issues.

I have found that using a cleaner on the spinner sometimes kills the hook for a few games. I not sure if it's burning it in there or what. I would sand the ball down to 1000 and bring it back to 4000. Put a light shine on it with Finesse-IT II by 3M. The action should come back.

The shine and the temporary "burn in" are very possible.  I have been wanting to buy some abralons so I guess this gives me a reason  My usual process is a few sprays and let it sit a few seconds then turn on spinner and wipe down.  With the widow I take a green scotch brite to the ball then spray and clean and works great.  I was just stumped on what was happening and was just curious if I was the only one.  I will throw a few more games on it and see if I see any changes and then proceed from there with the other suggestions.

Whoa!

If you're using a green pad to "clean" you're doing a lot more than cleaning, you're resurfacing the ball to ~600 grit.

Did you use a green pad on the BV as well?

One other thing to my take on fixing your Vibe's reaction. DO NOT CLEAN YOUR BALL ON THE SPINNER ANYMORE. You will see just as good results sticking to the proverbial hand job!

After 50-60 games that coverstock is sitting at about 600 grit dull. You need to take it back to factory OOB which was 4000grit with Powehouse Factory Finish polish. Polished bowling balls need to be repolished every few weeks to keep that crisp backend. A hot water bath every 50 games or so is also recommended depending on the volume of oil you bowl on.
