First off, I am 30 years old and haven't bowled in a league since I was 17. Back then, I used a Columbia U Dot (remember those?) and carried a 205 average. I have bowled 3-4 times a year since then (I can pick up a house ball and throw 200-220 consistently). I recently decided to get back into league play and decided I needed to buy a ball. I did a lot of research and went to my local pro shop. After watching me bowl a game to find out what kind of bowler I am, the Black Widow Bite was recommended to me. I had it drilled pretty strong and bowled 3 games right after picking it up. I must say, I am pretty disappointed. I cannot get this ball to hook (which, is what it is supposed to do, right?). I tried moving right...I tried moving left...I tried slowing my swing down...I tried speeding my swing up...I tried over-cranking the ball...I tried polishing it up...I tried dulling it down...nothing worked. I don't know if I just had some terrible lane conditions or what, but, bowling 30-40 pins a game under what I could do with a house ball doesn't seem like a good investment of $200. I am going to give it another try in my Thursday night league. Does anybody have any suggestions?

If your hooking a house ball, there is definately not enough oil out on the lanes for this ball..

i would give it about 1 month see how it works out on league night there is usually more oil down.if the ball just rolls out due to not enough oil than you may want to consider the black widow pearl.
