Jig Saw first impressions

Well I got my Jig Saw punched up last week, and it's better than I'd had hoped. It's laid out pin over bridge about 2", CG kicked right, and MB right of thumb about 2".

First few balls I played where I do with my Hot Sauce Pearl, and had to make a 5 board move left. The ball does a good job getting down the lane, and makes the most aggressive, sharpest break point of any ball I've currently have.

The ball revs up really well, and carries like no other. I get a total different look of pin reaction, and scouts that I've never been able to have before. Excellent ball, and I'm very impressed. I can't wait to use it on a shot with a heavier amount of oil to see how it handles that. Great ball.

The ball just keeps impressing me. I'm shooting 650+ everytime I pull it out. Highest game so far was 288 with a 724 in my Monday league. I should have put it away after the first game because it was just too much, but kept it going all night.

Awesome ball. Hands down the most impressive carry and pin action I've ever had. I can't say enough about it.

Glad you like it, I sure didn't like mine. The ball seems extremely hit or miss.

I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen a big drop off of hook when this ball gets about 100 games on it. A friend of mine has seen his really taper off. I used Clean and Dull on it and lightly changed the surface and it showed no difference. Have not given it a hot water bath but when I was working on the cover I was getting no dirt or oil out of it. The ball is not rolling out as we have more oil for our league now than we had earlier when it was rolling great.

I have not seen any drop off in reaction after 150 games on my Jigsaw...

I use this ball a lot on our location 5 gamers & 2 leagues that I bowl in. I make sure that I use clean & dull with a fresh 2000 Abralon pad once every 2 weeks. This seems to keep this great movement that I love in this ball.

My son got a Jigsaw and every time he bowls on fresh oil including a no tap tournament today (11/28/09) he has to slow the ball way down to get it to break. Then, he seems to get no carry. I've read posts where bowlers say to sand it if your results are less than expected. Someone explain why you buy a ball for medium to heavy oil, it doesn't react, then you have to sand it. What is the point? Why not have it sanded out of the box? I don't get it. My son, who bowls in Los Angeles, averages 198 at one lanes (Gardena) 200 (Gable House) and 177 in a PBA experience league

The Jigsaw is clearly not the ball it was hyped to be. From what I see of it, it is more a medium to light medium ball. It does lose reaction and sanding alone doesn't help. We gave it a hot water, Dawn bath after it's reaction died dramatically and even though virtually no oil came out it did have better reaction. Not quite what it was but better. This ball seem to be more of a miss for Hammer than its other stuff. I haven't seen carry being a problem with it but lane reaction is not what other balls have on medium-heavy.

I think the 500 to 4000 surface prep is odd.  I think most would see a better reaction using abralon or paper, going 800-1000-1500-2000.

That is interesting, around here me and my buddies that have gotten Jigsaws can't find enough oil for it, ball hooks a ton for us. I used it at the tail end of my summer sport shot league and on the heavier longer patterns it shined, ball really needs oil from what i've seen. Also I haven't used mine enough to comment on ball death but I haven't heard anything negative about it from any of the guys I know with them.

I have a Jigsaw and if I can't find enough oil the ball just rolls out half way down the lane and it looks like it won't turn over. However, when I can find enough oil to make the ball usable it's my favorite ball in my bag. Don't have a lot of games on it (due to the lack of oil as previously described), but it's definitely a keeper for me.

I have had the JIGSAW for a while now and to me it is a very good ball. Heres what I did to mine, I told myself to be disciplined and to clean it after every set which I did.

I use "Clean N Dull" exclusively. I bought the 32oz off of the web for my garage and then bought the small bottle for my ball bag and so after about 60 games (at least) of just using "Clean N Dull" I then put the ball in a bucket of water to extract the oil that was left there.

To my surprise there was NONE...that really freaked me out (thats how good "Clean N Dull" is) so I then used a 4K ab pad on it as it was not really the same as brand new but certainly nothing bad and it continued to roll very well.

Heres what I do to continue with the ball maintenance of my JIGSAW (when needed). I use a green "Scotch-Brite" pad as the primary cover adjustment and then I use a blue "Scotch-Brite" pad as the secondary cover adjustment, this is the Poor-Mans abralon tuning system

This for me is money (and dirt cheap) I have now used this system for the last two months or so and all of my oil balls are rolling better than new (not kidding) I have used this method on my LaneMasters STING, 900-Global Break-Point, and of course my beloved Hammer JIGSAW and WOW! what great results(YMMV)

Although, I must admit the 900-Global Break-Point under these cover conditions MUST have a significant amount of conditioner on the lane or else its see-ya!! :-)

Btw, I bowl 3 leagues at Gable House too and I dont know for sure but I probably have over 300 games (at least) on my Jigsaw and it is jsut as good if not better then the day I first rolled it....and remember YMMV.

Mine is a beast. My first Hammer ball in years and it is a hook monster. Original out of the box finish didn't do much for me. Then I hit it with a little polish and it was on from there.

I actually put even more polish on it so I could use it a complete set. The ball is 5.5 x 5.5 x 5.5 and is clean through the heads and then turns something wicked. The ball does hit extremely hard and carries very well.

Most of the people I've talked to had similar results.

OOB was so so, a little polish and the ball was a monster.

This was kind of a mixed ball for me. My dad bought this ball (as he does pretty much every ball that comes out), shot 300 then got rid of it to me, I shot 289 with it in a tournament to take 2nd place. The next outings with the ball I couldn't get it to do anything. I mean it was just nearly a spare ball. Then I went to a different house and used it, and it was hooking out of the building. Lesson learned: Have some oil for this thing, or you will think its a dud or it will hit like a marshmellow. Also clean this thing reguarly or you will be sorry!

You asked first impressions...This thing is one ugly ****.
I watched our local pro shop guy throw it and he could make it work but I didn't like the move he was getting compared to other stuff.  It wiggled on fresh much more often than I thought it would.  Once dulled down, it became more consistent but doesn't make a big move at all on the backend.
It sounds like a ball that is very sensitive to who's throwing it/how's it being thrown?
Not sure how forgiving it is but on TV, Pluhowsky looked pretty good with it on the second show.
