Decision: Jigsaw Corner vs Mutant Cell
« on: February 25, 2010, 10:44:45 AM »
Currently, I am throwing a Mutant Cell and loved it when I frist got it, but I am not seeing the same reaction anymore and I got it only in December.  I am looking at the new Jigsaw Corner.  But what will i be getting by investing in this ball in regards to reaction?  Is it really that much strong than the mutant cell?  or are they similar and should be looking at another ball. I am a stroker with about and avg of 15 mph and med revs.
Help please

the mutant has a very porous coverstock.  Get your pro shop to extract the oil from the coverstock, and resurface or refinish the cover, then see how it rolls.

Drop it in a hot water bath and bring it back to life. The storm covers are all like that, the invasion included... they are like a sponge.. just soaks up oil!

Hmm..Lets see what I have in this bag..A radiated C-System 3.5,an Invasion, a bright red Mission, a Motiv Qz1 Fire ball, and a green Avalanche.. how can I lose....

The JS Corner is more length, with more backend.  Skid Snap by design.
The Mutant is a heavy rolling, more midlane ball with continuation.

Just depends on what kind of shape you're looking for.

according to rotogrip/storm the number 1 reason for loss in ball reaction on one of their dull balls is surface.

depending on revrate and lane surface your ball could lose reaction between 20 - 50 games.

my suggestion: 500 grit abralon on a haus/storm machine or/by hand to thoroughly cut the ball.... clean the ball or oil extract.... 2000 abralon same way as 500 grit. ball will react good as new.

i have been doing this for a friends no mercy and its still reacting like new even though its got a ton of games on it, and that ball was known for dying. (i had one as well but I cracked when it fell out of my bag)

300 revs
16 mph
17 degrees of tilt

when you're feeling blue,
just say to yourself "what would BallBaggins do?"

I think with the proper maintinence you can really prolong the life of all the current heavy oilers out there. that being said, with improper maintinence I think you can drastically reduce the life of all the current heavy oilers. Like someone said, they're pretty much all big sponges. Keep dripping water onto a sponge and eventually, it will fill up. and when a full sponge in this case means the surface having a harder time producing friction on the lane, that can spell big problems for you.

What I'm getting at is that I think you should probably try to rejuvenate/hot water bath/ whatever you have to do to deep clean the mutant, because chances are, it'll fix it like new. Chances also are, that the corner would do the same thing and need the same kind of cleaning in a few months.
