laying out the real deal......
« on: April 14, 2005, 04:28:43 PM »
i got a hand me down real deal...my friend didnt want it anymore so he gave it to me and plan to plug it and have it redrilled since hes right handed....i was just wondering how should i lay it up if i plan on opening up on flooded 40 feet oil conditions...what i have in mind right now is puting the pin 3 3/8 away from the pap with the mb in the strong position....does anyone how exactly this would react being that this ball is a low mass bias ball....

Lefty-  i would advise against that.

Looks like you have some hand, and like to open lanes up.  That's fine, but the core in the REAL DEAL is so strong that for guys with better than average revs, if it is put in a real strong position it causes the ball to roll poorly.

Since the ball came out I have advised everyone that asks about layout to make sure that the core layout is weak enough so that the ball doesn't roll poorly.

I would suggest that you put the pin AT LEAST 4" in from the PAP and then don't go any stronger with the LMB than stacked.

Hope this helps.

I'd go with 4 1/2 by 4 1/2, that's enough for almost anyone.

In the shop I work in, we NEVER lay anything out with a 3 3/8 pin.

thanks for the tip guys...i guess i shouldnt have laid my high-rev with a 3 3/8 pin label leverage...its a ball but it seems to just roll out once it reaches the back....

just got this ball drilled today...laid out with the pin above the ring finger stacked leverage and all i got to say is that this ball is a pin shattering machine...hits the pocket with authority very smooth down the lane with an aggressive move to the pocket...definitely a must have ball for any hammer head and the best $40 bucks ive ever spent my money on...

Lefty- Glad you like the ball.   Glad we could save you some headaches as well.  If you like the ball at 4.5, imagine how you would not have liked it at 3.375.

The cores in the Deal line are so strong that they need to be drilled with the pin at least 4.25" and a least stacked LMB.

Congrats on aquiring a REAL DEAL!!
